erm, I can't believe I'm the first to post about this entry in today's Guardian diary http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2011/aug/15/esther-addley-diary-david-cameron.

ED and the EDF have achieved undying fame nationwide. Let's all fiddle to celebrate the imminent arrival of Waitrose on LL while the rest of London burns.

? No community is rejoicing more in the return to relative peace following the riots than the residents of East Dulwich in south-east London. Like frightened citizens across the nation, they took to the internet at the height of the disturbances to exchange potentially lifesaving information. On the East Dulwich Forum website, one can still follow the frantic messages of last Tuesday evening. From user thebestnameshavegone at 6.18pm: "I'm expecting Ocado literally any minute ? does anyone know if they've been able to get through Rye Lane." Just over an hour later, Alex K posted. "This sort of thing just pushes further and further into the future any decision by Waitrose to open on Lordship Lane." Thank God it's over!

Perhaps you failed to see the irony in Marmora Man's post? If so, that would also be rather ironic.

Or perhaps there wasn't any. In which case, that would probably make my post ironic.

Is there such a thing as meta-irony?

I am a locavore alright but I still hanker after a bit of Waitrose! We all use supermarkets so, rather than another crummy Tesco metro, why not a mini Waitrose. We wouldn't be worse off for it and I promise to buy the whole hog roast at NCR market every Sat for a month!!

Surely another epetition????

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
