A fair few of those have stayed put and sprouted kids! For me the loss of Inside 72 left a bit of a hole further up LL. Most of that sort of crowd can now be found at the EDT.

I very much feel we don't need another Coffee chain or resturant.

What I think we DO need however that the site would be perfect for is a branch of Wholefoods or Planet Organic.

I know we have SMBS which is very good but we do need a bigger offer with organic ready meal options, bakery and all that the whole foods and planet organic chain offers.

At present we have to go to Clapham which is the nearest branch.

I'm sure theres a market for this here.

And it would do well

That would KILL our independent shops. We already have SMBS, Franklins & Organic Village, as well as bakeries, a fish monger, two cheese mongers, a butcher etc. Plus both of those chains are horrifically overpriced. If anything, perhaps a Cook would be a good option? Frozen ready made 'luxury' food, good for busy families etc.

If it's a Costa, I will be appalled. At this point I'm hoping it's going to be a Nandos (which I'm not a fan of), just so we don't have junk coffee shops.

May I ask why you sent this reply to my post as a PM????? Trying to plug your own business I suspect.

In fact you sent me TWO private messages because you forgot to put the link to your 'cooked' site.

If you want to promote your business please do so in the correct section on the forum.

do not spam me with your advertising.

I literally pressed the wrong button, calm down. I don't own Cook, wish I did I would be loaded (in fact, not overly keen on the place but would be better than Planet Organic which is full of fake healthy products and 'organic' produce shipped from the other side of the world)

  • 1 month later...

HI Deanna,

I lodged, when I was still a councillor, a request for the planning application to be called in if officers were minded to grant permission for A3 use.

I asked officers for the report they suggested they had showing Lordship Lane is well above 50% shop use - as past planning applications officers produced reports that we were right on the border of this. We have local policies to not allow fewer than 50% shop units.

So good to see one of my and former Cllr Rosie Shimell last acts worked.

I understand the rules about having over 50% retail .. but it seems to the council would rather something remained empty for a decade than have the 'wrong' class of establishment in it. I don't understand how threshers and the like can be an empty eyesore for years with no issues .. but a restaurant can't open where a shop was. If we really want to protect lordship lane the council need to look at rent control and empty units as well as usage classes. ( i realise the rent control bit is a pipe dream )

Oh no, I really hope not.

Doesn't feel like it would fit in with Lordship Lane at all.

Had hoped for an independent, or at least a smaller chain than Superdrug.

:( :( :(

I heard a 'chemist' rumour about the Londis site too. I agree Superdrug seems an odd fit for LL, though I'm sure I'll end up using it (Lloyds is good but has a rather limited selection of products and that Co-op chemist is hopeless and should be put out of its misery - you never see anyone in it).

    • I was woken around midnight the other night as a Lime man tried to untangle a heap of three bikes someone had piled on my driveway. They block the pavements and people knock them over in frustration. I wrote to Lime and told them that in future any bikes left near my property would be securely stored away for collection at a mutually convenient time for both parties. I confiscated one at the weekend but a man knocked on our door looking to rent it while I was at work and my son gave it to him! I told Lime it's not fair of them to push the problem on to the local collection depots, they create the problem by allowing users to dump the things wherever they like. If they were penalized for doing so that would put an end to it.

"I’m proud to be an advice volunteer at Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers (SDCAS), a community that welcomes and supports refugees, migrants, and asylum seekers in Southwark. Right now, we’re facing the toughest moment in our nearly 30-year history. • "2.2.1 The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) has undertaken a comprehensive consultation process with its residents and stakeholders regarding the proposed development which aims to create 41 additional units and has been designed to address the growing demand for accessible and supportive accommodation for individuals with visual impairments. 2.2.2 The consultation process has been a key part of the planning phase, ensuring that the needs and preferences of current residents are taken into account. RNIB has held several meetings, workshops, and surveys to gather feedback on the design, facilities, and overall impact of the new development. Residents have been encouraged to share their views on various aspects, including accessibility features, communal spaces, and the integration of the new blocks with the existing infrastructure which has directly informed the proposals. 2.2.3 The Applicant also engaged with the local MP, Helen Hayes, and a couple of local councillors at the behest of RNIB tenants to provide new homes to promote independent living for its Blind and Partially Sighted residents"     Seems like a very sensible and necessary proposal to me.
