A fair few of those have stayed put and sprouted kids! For me the loss of Inside 72 left a bit of a hole further up LL. Most of that sort of crowd can now be found at the EDT.

I very much feel we don't need another Coffee chain or resturant.

What I think we DO need however that the site would be perfect for is a branch of Wholefoods or Planet Organic.

I know we have SMBS which is very good but we do need a bigger offer with organic ready meal options, bakery and all that the whole foods and planet organic chain offers.

At present we have to go to Clapham which is the nearest branch.

I'm sure theres a market for this here.

And it would do well

That would KILL our independent shops. We already have SMBS, Franklins & Organic Village, as well as bakeries, a fish monger, two cheese mongers, a butcher etc. Plus both of those chains are horrifically overpriced. If anything, perhaps a Cook would be a good option? Frozen ready made 'luxury' food, good for busy families etc.

If it's a Costa, I will be appalled. At this point I'm hoping it's going to be a Nandos (which I'm not a fan of), just so we don't have junk coffee shops.

I'm hoping it's not going to be a Nandos.

Apart from feeling sorry for the poor factory farmed chickens, Nandos always seem to have a really weird vibe (based on an admittedly very small sample of three).

Anyway, there's one just down the road near King's.

Seems not.

But hey, a great excuse for the usual forum rambling (including mine), no? :))

May I ask why you sent this reply to my post as a PM????? Trying to plug your own business I suspect.

In fact you sent me TWO private messages because you forgot to put the link to your 'cooked' site.

If you want to promote your business please do so in the correct section on the forum.

do not spam me with your advertising.

I literally pressed the wrong button, calm down. I don't own Cook, wish I did I would be loaded (in fact, not overly keen on the place but would be better than Planet Organic which is full of fake healthy products and 'organic' produce shipped from the other side of the world)

HI Deanna,

I lodged, when I was still a councillor, a request for the planning application to be called in if officers were minded to grant permission for A3 use.

I asked officers for the report they suggested they had showing Lordship Lane is well above 50% shop use - as past planning applications officers produced reports that we were right on the border of this. We have local policies to not allow fewer than 50% shop units.

So good to see one of my and former Cllr Rosie Shimell last acts worked.

I understand the rules about having over 50% retail .. but it seems to the council would rather something remained empty for a decade than have the 'wrong' class of establishment in it. I don't understand how threshers and the like can be an empty eyesore for years with no issues .. but a restaurant can't open where a shop was. If we really want to protect lordship lane the council need to look at rent control and empty units as well as usage classes. ( i realise the rent control bit is a pipe dream )

Oh no, I really hope not.

Doesn't feel like it would fit in with Lordship Lane at all.

Had hoped for an independent, or at least a smaller chain than Superdrug.

I heard a 'chemist' rumour about the Londis site too. I agree Superdrug seems an odd fit for LL, though I'm sure I'll end up using it (Lloyds is good but has a rather limited selection of products and that Co-op chemist is hopeless and should be put out of its misery - you never see anyone in it).
