Well the Christmas party season is upon us already and some bright spark at my work has decided our party shall be fancy dress. I am in principle up for it but the theme is superheroes, and having browsed the paltry selection of batgirl, catwoman, etc costumes available I am now panicking. Anyone got any ideas that don't involve wearing spandex or some sort of black pvc mini-skirt and thigh high boots? Not that I have anything against such items per se, just not really me. Grateful for any suggestions!

Poisen Ivy's a good one just lots of green and some twigs! :)........or captain underpants!

i went to a heroes and villains party this year and a couple of the girls dressed up as supergran not a very glam look but i appreciated there effort, shopping trollies and all!

Your gonna be pretty hard pushed to find a Female Superhero not in spandex bu here goes

Lady Deathstrike - X-Men 2 Version - Leather Trousers and Jacket (but with those claws it might be hard to hold one's G&T)

Trinity - The Matrix

Raven - Teen Titans (cartoon version)- Moody teen, pretty cool actually

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - All you need is a stake!

That's a puzzler.

There are lesser-known superhero/villains (eg a number of 'witches' and the like). They ten to wear the usual revealing costume but the addition of a cape would be an asset by the sounds of it (no offence, like). And you'd get the chance to exhume your old Goth wardrobe. Unfortunately, 98% of people won't have the faintest idea who you are and you'll have to explain yourself all night long.

A easy get-out (and easy outfit) would be to go as Dr Jean Grey - in her X-Men screen outing - who is dressed as a doctor (because, er, she is one)

I know! The next few years is pretty big for comic book adaptations. You've got The Dark Knight, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Magneto, The Flash, Justice League of America to name but a few. Will be intersting to see who's gonna get the leads in some of those let me tell you.

I realise that the director worked on 300, so maybe used to the graphic novel aesthetic, but Watchmen is more than just a comic book. There are A LOT of threads and subtleties to handle; I hope they don't ruin it.

Ooh just thought of another un-spandex clad super-villain. How about V?

    • If you don't use the car often then suggest disconnect the battery between use by undoing the earth (negative / minus sign) cable from the battery and the battery will then last longer between use. Remember, central locking, alarm, clock, etc won't work with battery disconnected and wit ours I have to lock the doors with central locking before disconnecting battery as only have key on one door (leave bonnet open before locking doors). Hope this helps

    • Ahh shame about the cost of replacing the battery - especially (and I am assuming here) as the car probably isn't worth that much.  I do, however, think your decision is better than scrapping the car.  I will still update the results of our "experiment" in case this is of interest to others.  I absolutely refuse to scrap an otherwise perfectly good vehicle (especially as ours is ULEZ compliant - despite its age).  Nor am I enamoured with the idea of driving more just to keep the battery going.  If this little £35 gadget does the business then I shall be very happy.  We shall see......... Enjoy all those extra journeys, though if our gadget works then you might benefit from purchasing one and trickle-charging from time to time to save you having to make them.
