Please excuse the interruption but I recently had to clean out the forum's database as it was 10Gb in size, to do this I had to remove all images that were over a year old. That's why old images are no longer appearing but the database is now only 3Gb in size so the forum's less likely to fall over because of it. A small price to pay but sorry the original images aren't at the start of this thread.

I did divvy up on the last request for a server upgrade (perhaps you were not around at the time), I've paid for a banner advert on the EDF, and made a donation for each one off advert.

I notee your priorities for the EDF. Silly pictures of interest to a few rather than material such as the photos uploaded by computedshorty.

I understand you are leaving East Dulwich soon.

John Kennedy

Forum got to function though ain't it.

Plus a forum like this isn't exactly designed to be a useful reference for anything much.

I agree, set up a website or a blog and talk to computedshorty to get access to his treasure trove.

If you'd like advice on how or even help I'd be happy to do so.

Do it quick, I'm leaving East Dulwich...well, actually I left 9 years ago, but I'm leaving for further afield in a couple of months.

Not sure D_C is is he?

I have previously donated to the forum although I wasn't aware this was a contest on the depths of our wallets. Especially given I'm not the one complaining about anything I've posted being removed.

And if you want to wage battle on our respective interests then I'm happy to front up against your endless campaign of postcode and geographic pedantry.

Not for the first time, your sources are innaccurate. I'm not going anywhere to the best of my knowledge although as I live nr Bellenden Road I'm unsure if I've ever actually lived in East Dulwich. If only there was someone who could tell me?

I was merely pointing out that your persistent gloom and tetchy aside at the thought that some of your historic map pictures may be being removed to allow the forum to remain functional was uncalled for. And that if you were that interested in preserving them for public viewing, perhaps a personal blog might suit your needs.

At the EDF's Meet Your Favourite Poster drinks night, everyone's illusions of HonaB being a Wildean, louche, bohemian man-about-town, complete with wide brimmed hat and flowing cape, are shattered when he turns out to be a trainspotter called Bert living in a bedsit in Penge...

    • He did mention it's share of freehold, I’d be very cautious with that. It can turn into a nightmare if relationships with neighbours break down. My brother had a share of freehold in a flat in West Hampstead, and when he needed to sell, the neighbour refused to sign the transfer of the freehold. What followed was over two years of legal battles, spiralling costs and constant stress. He lost several potential buyers, and the whole sale fell through just as he got a job offer in another city. It was a complete disaster. The neighbour was stubborn and uncooperative, doing everything they could to delay the process. It ended in legal deadlock, and there was very little anyone could do without their cooperation. At that point, the TA6 form becomes the least of your worries; it’s the TR1 form that matters. Without the other freeholder’s signature on that, you’re stuck. After seeing what my brother went through, I’d never touch a share of freehold again. When things go wrong, they can go really wrong. If you have a share of freehold, you need a respectful and reasonable relationship with the others involved; otherwise, it can be costly, stressful and exhausting. Sounds like these neighbours can’t be reasoned with. There’s really no coming back from something like this unless they genuinely apologise and replace the trees and plants they ruined. One small consolation is that people who behave like this are usually miserable behind closed doors. If they were truly happy, they’d just get on with their lives instead of trying to make other people’s lives difficult. And the irony is, they’re being incredibly short-sighted. This kind of behaviour almost always backfires.
