Councillor surgery meetings

Recommended Posts

Hi wonderwoman

It depends on where you live and who your councillors are. If you go on http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx then you can find your councillors there. Clicking on a Councillor?s profile will let you see what surgeries the councillor has scheduled.

As you say, Renata from Peckham Rye ward does one at the East Dulwich Community Centre on the second Saturday of the month.

If you are a Goose Green resident then I am afraid we have not yet confirmed our surgeries. We are a new ward so we are still finalising plans and investigating venues. Our current plan is to do one on the second Thursday of the month at East Dulwich Community Centre, and another on the fourth Thursday of the month at a venue to the north of the ward but this is still to be determined.

Best wishes

James

The new surgery times/dates haven't yet been finalised. Peckham Rye Ward has now got 2 councillors and our ward has shifted eastwards, so we no longer have any residents in our Ward to the West of the Rye. The number of residents coming to surgeries has declined over the last 8 years to the extent that we often have no-one coming to see us! We will be doing a surgery once a month at Nunhead Library at 6.30 pm and it is likely to continue to be on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Hi James

I am a goose green resident and was wondering if you could hold a surgery at the weekend for those that may not be able to make a weekday especially if during the day rather than evening.

Dear loveED86

I am afraid that we are probably not going to do a surgery at the weekend. As Renata says above, fewer and fewer people attend surgeries. So instead we are planning to prioritise engaging with residents door-to-door, as well as through digital means like this Forum. We will still do traditional surgeries but these will be on weekday evenings as we have found that this tends to attract more people.

If there?s something in particular that you?d like to raise then please do email me though.

Best wishes

James

    • We were hoping to have a meal at Monkatsu  last night (Sunday), after having been out all day. Online information gave the closing time as 10pm. We got there around 8.30pm and they wouldn't give us a table because "the kitchen closes in half an hour." Surely it doesn't take half an hour to make a meal? We've never had to wait that long when we've eaten there before. Has anybody else had this happen? We ended up going home and getting a delivery, which wasn't how we had envisaged the end of a nice day 🙄
    • That place did only have pizzas on the menu, to the best of my recollection. We ate there once, the pizzas were ok but the room was not exactly atmospheric. Il Mirto has  a lot of pasta dishes on the menu,  but that also never seems busy. It's small and out of the way,  and easily forgotten if you're looking for somewhere to eat, I suppose.
