Huguenot
With a pathetic 14 out of 24, there seems to be good reason why I've been exiled to Singapore.Take the test, and see if you'll be obliged to join me shortly. I'll tidy the spare room. ;-)Nette, there aren't any picture questions, so you may struggle. Try to look at the shape of the letters, and see if you can remember them from the pictures on the walls? HAL9000
You scored 16 out of a possible 24You have failed, the pass mark was 75% According to the Life in the UK Test, you have insufficient knowledge of the English language or of life in the UK to remain. LadyDeliah
I got 16 out of 24 too. Some of those questions are pretty obscure! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20025-citizenship-test-are-you-in-or-out/#findComment-490752 Share on other sites
taper
17. I don't believe this is the test. I'm very English and well clever. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20025-citizenship-test-are-you-in-or-out/#findComment-490753 Share on other sites
Huguenot
It's the real thing. All the answers are in 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship' Handbook. So I guess to pass, you need to memorise it. Pickle
I had to sit this a few years ago, it is indeed an exercise in memorising random facts and figures that you'll never need again. However on the day I sat it only me and 3 others out of the 20 or so that sat it passed, so obviously you need a degree of competence to have realised that you need to read the book and memorise it!I just did the test and got 15, which goes to show none of what I "learned" has stuck :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20025-citizenship-test-are-you-in-or-out/#findComment-490763 Share on other sites

LadyDeliah
Being in the business of immigration (ducks from flying eggs and rotten tomatoes), I can vouch that these are the kind of stupid questions anyone wanting to settle in the UK or naturalise as British, has to answer. Jeremy
Erm... 12!I actually have nothing against a written test regarding the laws and way of life in the UK. And it also tests for a reasonable grasp of English, which is a good thing. The problem is that the questions are plainly ridiculous, and rely on memorisation of irrelevant facts from study books. DaveR
19. But a few of those were lucky guesses. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/20025-citizenship-test-are-you-in-or-out/#findComment-490792 Share on other sites

DJKillaQueen
I got 17 too and some were definitely lucky guesses. My question is why would any immigrant need to know some of this stuff anyway! peterstorm1985
15, and 50% of those were guesses. Some of the 'correct' answers are ridiculous; I've been switching the lights off and hiding behind the sofa every Halloween since this American style of celebrating a pagan festival has become prevalent, and it's worked every time. Apparently I'm supposed to give them sweets and chocolate. Pah! Townleygreen
15. Terrible in one sense, but so many of the questions are nit-picking nonsense. Otta
Thank God someone else scored 11!And even for my 11 I was guessing most of them.A friend of mine's wife has to do this test at some stage, and was saying how insane the book was. I hadn't realised it was this insane!
