FYI

I went to memsaab last night, looked at the menu for a fish dish

When I enquired what Indian fish they use, I was told tilapia!

I told him I didn't realise tilapia was an Indian fish as that's not how I know it.

Generally They usually use coley fish in Indian restaurants.

Anyway, came home checked the ratings on the Southwark website & it was a 2!

Highly disappointed to say the least!

This is the first time in about 15 yrs I have used a Indian restaurant in dulwich..... I usually venture out of town where these restaurants are plentiful.

It's a bit further to travel but Babur in Honor Oak does a Sunday buffet and it has a 5 food hygiene rating. Having said that, my favourite Vietnamese in Camberwell used to have a 0 rating but has nudged that up to a lofty 2 earlier this year!

Red snapper is definitely eaten in India, and tilapia is close enough. Meat and fish used in "Indian" restaurants here are going to be dictated by local availability.. I think that's fair enough.
