david_carnell
I'm definitely interested in tomorrow's announcement on the EPS and Saxons.15. Foden (Brown lacks versatility for my liking but agreed he's been in excellent form)14. Ashton 13. Turner-Hall12. Twelvetrees/Hooper 11. Strettle (Sharples would be on the bench)10. Farrell (Hodgson on the bench if things aren't going well) 9. Youngs (Dickson as first replacement)8. Easter 7. Woods ©6. Robshaw 5. Borthwick (alongside Easter, adds some experience in a young pack)4. Gaskell 3. Cole (would like to see Marler get at least half a game)2. Hartley 1. CorbisieroAre you going to any games jacks09? I'm hoping to be at Hoopers pub for most (if not all the) games. It's a good rugby-loving crowd there. Help-Ma-Boab
Whats the set up in Hoopers for sport watching? Was in the snug there a couple of years ago which had a small TV I think.(It was a long day!)Could be an option for the clash on Feb 4th. C'moan Scotland. david_carnell
At Hoopers there is a big projection screen at the back of the main bar (nr the gents). There is another tv at the front of the bar and another in the snug. Given the timing of the six nations, I suspect two will show the rugby and one will have some football.Jamie, the owner, is a big rugby nut and you get a rugby loving and knowledgable crowd for the games unlike most other local pubs.More than happy to have a few halves with you, Help-Me-Boab. With Scots and English blood I'm always torn on that game but if you're going to be there I'll cheer on the men in white just to make it interesting. Can we interest MrBen and other ED-based Scots? Help-Ma-Boab
Think I'll give Hoopers a whirl then for the opening game. Always feels like the winter gloom is lifting once the 6 Nations starts. Burns the weekend before so will be on a major Scottish jag come the 4th Feb....After having a fairly dry January, LASERS will firmly be set tae MALKY!.....CHARGE. Help-Ma-Boab
He's going to the game I think. If not, then fo sho. Anyhow, better let this thread get back to debating the England line up. Look forward to Hoopers in Feb. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21377-englands-starting-6-nations-xv/#findComment-513342 Share on other sites
HAL9000
LASERS will firmly be set tae MALKY!.....CHARGE.Always wondered what that expression meant: according to wiki here:Malky / Malkie - slang term originating from Glasgow & the West coast of Scotland, used to describe slashing someone with an open razor. Comes from the rhyming slang Malcom (Malky) Fraser (Razor). Is that right? Help-Ma-Boab
Not for me its not. We/I would use the term to mean getting full, but Im not from the West Coast. HAL9000
That makes more sense in the context of having had a dry January. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21377-englands-starting-6-nations-xv/#findComment-513347 Share on other sites
Help-Ma-Boab
I would also not advocate slashing somebody with a razor. Never occured to me it meant anything other than having a good old peeve. HAL9000
I'm glad I looked it up: it's a potential stumbling block for uninformed trekkies - especially after a few drinks! HAL9000
Funny how 'laser' and 'razor' rhyme, though - that might explain how the phrase came about? Magpie
I have tickets for the game - and fully expect England to get mugged - a new young team taking on the Scots at Murryfield looking for revenge from the worldcup - we're doomed . . . . taper
I'll be at Hoopers, if I can get a pass out.Twelvetrees must be in. Foden humbled Brown recently. I'd go Corbs, Hartley, coleLawes (if fit), PalmerRobshaw, Wood, MorganBacks, who cares. Games won in the forwards. El Pibe
Many of us regulars have rallied round and written to the authorities asking that the complaint not be upheld. At the time Jamie asked us to let our opinion be known it was 1-1 so I'm pretty confident that in terms of wider input into the case the pro hoopers lobby has done well.Fingers crossed, and see you all there.
