Hi

We've had 123 Chimnney Sweeps around today and I was very pleased with his service. The chap's name is Alan, 020 8668 9914, 07956 385112, check out his website, they've been going since the 1870's! Very friendly and tidy and lots of advice if you need it. Definitely recommended.

Phil from Mr. Jolly was great. Really knowledgable (we just moved into this flat and knew nothing about wood-stoves or the care of them - he was really informative along with cleaning our chimney!). I recommend his service. (thanks to David, the ED Forum member who suggested him to us!)

Give 1.2.3 Chimney Sweeps a call on 020 8668 9914 or check out their web site wwww.123chimneysweeps.co.uk

Our family have used them in south London for donkeys years I've recommended him before on EDF and others highly recommend him, his names Alan Naish and there's nothing he doesn't know about chimneys!!!

We too used 123 Chimney Sweeps - Alan Naish - last week, very helpful, polite and clean. Knows his stuff!

Whoever you go for just make sure they're a member of one of the chimney sweep assocations.

Now, where best in ED to buy smokeless or real coke? I picked up a 10kg bag of smokeless from the firestation on Old Kent Road, at ?8 - no idea if that's reasonable?

I've just had Alan round from 1.2.3. Chimney Sweeps, and just in time too judging by the amount of soot that came out of the chimney. He was excellent. No mess, quick, friendly and left a certificate with an analysis of the state of the chimney. Get's my recommendation.

Alan sorted out my chimney too - he did a great job and gave me lots of helpful advice. I'd never had a log burning stove before and was a bit afraid of it! He charged ?40 and it was worth every penny. I'll definitely use him again. His phone number is 079 56 38 51 12

Ah, thread resurrection. If anyone read my old post wondering where to buy cheap coal, I ended up using CPL (search coals2u); ?15 for ?25kg of Homefire smokeless. Minimum order was ?50 and they deliver bagged or unbagged to your shed/coal bunker/garage.

Marginally cheaper than the petrol stations but worth it for the delivery alone. Probably less damp as well.

Alan Naish visited me this morning and swept my chimney prior to installation of a stove.

As well as doing a thorough job, he gave me plenty of useful advice which will save me a lot in the near future.

He commented about how busy he gets just before Christmas so maybe it's best to contact him during the summer, his quieter period. That's my plan anyway!

Another very satisfied customer.

On the above recommendations I used 123 Chimney Sweeps this morning. Alan was punctual, pleasant, clean and tidy and did a thorough job, pointing out crumbling mortar and gave useful advice as well as an accredited certificate. A good company.

I would recommend and use again.

For in a former life, I was not merely a humble observer, but a seasoned educator of over twenty years, and Head of Pre-Prep for a distinguished dozen. Now, with quill exchanged for touchscreen, I have taken to that most modern of salons — Instagram — to dispense guidance, answer frequently whispered questions, and illuminate the shadowy corners of school selection with clarity and calm. Each post bears my signature twist: a blend of insight, levity, and the occasional raised eyebrow. Should you find yourself adrift in the sea of admissions, I suggest you peruse my latest dispatch. • Perhaps Gooseygreeny was not familiar with the wildlife before Gala was imposed on the park, since when its value to wildlife has deteriorated. The Park had never been disturbed before, as the council had respected it as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, so only the Common was licensed by them as a site for events. The first time Gala held their event, there was a tree with woodpeckers nesting in it right in the middle of the main field they used and thrushes, blackbirds and great tits nesting within the shrubs and trees immediately surrounding the field. The woodpeckers were thriving on ants from the anthills in the grass. To those of us who used to enjoy watching the wildlife, it was very obviously a Site of Importance for a variety of birds. Despite being accessed by the public and their dogs, it had been relatively undisturbed,  which was one of the main reasons why it was so special and why I have been opposed to the Gala festival being held during the bird nesting season.
    • So dangerous!    Can you be more specific about the road this was in and when you report it?  Maybe there’s some CCTV footage available
    • Hi - I’m looking for bean bags, cushions, toys and games for our play therapist who works weekly with some of our children. Any donations like board games, cuddly toys, dolls houses, action figures, dolls, puppets, easel etc would be very welcome. For Rushey Green Primary School
