Marmora Man
It was a very frosty morning - mist I think rising as the moisture warmed up. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21821-the-shard/#findComment-520161 Share on other sites

PeckhamRose
Fabulous pic MarmoraMan. We love seeing the same view. I also love that 'pod' on top of the Aura building, down the road on Peckham Rye. Boosboss told me he knew the man who lived in it. And you have caught it beautifully in this photo too. Is this shot from the top of your house? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21821-the-shard/#findComment-520409 Share on other sites

PeckhamRose
You're too kind. But you're also wrong. This is fabulous!! I am looking forward to see the building with more on top that is visible from our flats. So I visited it on the bike last week and it is 20 Fenchurch street. I took photos but only on film. Can't wait to see the Shard's hat go on. I wonder if they will lower it on from helicopter pretty much like they did with the Canary Wharf tower. Also of course the Pinnacle and the Leadenhall Building (just found this site with the best images on it). PeckhamRose
Ha! Hal I am never interested in technical details. MrPR is the professional photographer in our outfit and has never successfully explained to me what an F stop means, or what the F is short for, and so I end up saying effing stop! hohohoho. Sorry 'bout that. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21821-the-shard/#findComment-520497 Share on other sites
HAL9000
The F-stop number or F-ratio is the focal length divided by the effective aperture of a lens.It expresses how much light passes through (to expose the image) as a ratio so that different lenses can be compared directly.Yes - I was once a professional, although I haven't exposed a frame in earnest for over twenty years now. HAL9000
I still like to see what's under the bonnet.Your image reminds me of one of my favourite old-school photographers, Andreas Feininger (1906-1999). He was perhaps the first to expose cityscapes from a great distance using telephoto lenses. His images of New York from across the harbour are stunning. See Poster Gallery.
