lol Keef... soz I didn't really bump in2 ya last nite but I may have been the rosey cheeked (twas well 'ot in there ya know) blonde t'over at side... :p

Go on go out, u know u wanna! I'm opting for a quiet nite out in Penge. Oh the excitment! lol

Awful to hear about xanthe - thanks for posting Rhona and, along with everyone else, glad he has been so lucky.

On the (frivolous) upside, I suspect he won't have to buy a drink when he does turn up at a do ;-)

I forgot to mention Azul's lovely gesture to tina last night - bless. But learn the lesson - this man is not to be trusted with a secret!

And If I should die horribly, brutally in an "accidental" shaving accident may I suggest the forum check for annaj's fingerprints? Ta muchly

KalamityKel - bless your boundless, youthful energy but suggesting that people meet up again tonight suggests you are not yet aware of the "recovery process" which comes to us all. You going to that new pub in Penge (sister to the Rye hotel and the Mansion?)

Georgia - thanks for organising again. Despite the oppostite-of-welcoming hosts it was a good un wasn't it? Wish I had gone to the African pub and played bowling as well mind... :(

Hello All

Good times were had last night, was nice to meet you all and come out of the darkness, since no one was a crazy scary internet fiend of any kind (CWALD excepted, you are kinda scary... but of the "better to know you and have you on my side" variety!)

Will attempt to progress from lurker to occasional poster. And will definately be at future forum events where possible.

Lol stop wiv the youngster comments will ya ive had my fair share of "recoveries" altho admittedly on alot less sleep :p they say hair of the dog is the best cure... Not convinced tho hehe na not trying any sisters of sisters pub thingys this eve just in the spoons. U must xcuse any dodgy txt stuff im on me mobile ;-) hows that 4 addiction!

After early promise of not much of a hangover I've flumped bigtime and am unable to move from my sofa!

Sean, now I know you're just up the road I'll keep an eye out for Annaj lurking around... I think I'd be able to get her off your tail by running up and asking a random wedding planning question... possibly waving "Perfect Wedding" mag a la child catcher at her!

Oh my God, when did my nose get so big??

Nice pics, everyone laughing and having a good time.

Bignumber5 what did I do that was so scary? I'm sure AnnaJ was way scarier than me, especially because she actually looks like butter wouldn't melt in her mouth!

Darn - wish I'd made it - looks like everyone had a fabulous time, as always.

Love the pictures Andrew -

hee hee AnnaJ - I love the picture of you where it looks as if you are midst nursery rhyme - Here's the church, and here's the steeple, Open the door and see all the people. (tu)

I too was studying said front bumps and concur - it was more their proportions.

Having said that, now that the possibility of CWALD and I being long separated siblings has been raised, that I was gazing at my Sis' devils dumplings in such a way is rather disturbing. I need some therapy now or I might just sacrifice a cat ...

    • Callout for help from any local experts here. Looking to find out more about the history of the property on the corner of Whateley Road and Ulverscroft road (with the green glazed bricks). Now a residential property, i'm told it was a bottle shop in days gone (the house was built around 1900) by and i'd like to learn more about the history of the business that was once here - name, photos, anything at all really! Seems to be very little from open source research so i'm hoping anyone with history in the area can provide any insight!  Starting here before i contact Southwark Archives or similar orgs to get any information and pictures (any advice here also would be welcome). Thank you
    • Portable ramps are available for businesses to use in this sort of situation, aren't they? I don't know whether one would be suitable for use here, or whether they have the space to store one. Lots of people have  permanent or temporary disabilities which mean they have to use crutches or a wheelchair.
    • I can’t remember where I read that figure but this article in the Grauniad from 2023 discusses Ocado results from 2022. The average shopping cart fell to £118 from £129 the previous year. But Ocado lost £500m that year on approximately 20 million orders (circa 400k orders per week). So, averaging out to £25 lost per order. Ocado pauses building new warehouses as annual losses balloon to £500m | Ocado | The Guardian  Obviously, the £500m loss includes various factors. But Ocado has existed for 25 years and only made a small profit in a couple of those years. The rest have been huge losses. Yet it continues to raise funds and speculation sends the share price up and down. In that respect,  it’s like the UK version of Tesla. Meanwhile, the main growth in the supermarket sector has been for Aldi and Lidl, who do not deliver.
