Try this "Burns classic".... (works best with the accent)

When first my brave Johnie lad came to this town,

He had a blue bonnet that wanted the crown,

But now he has gotten a hat and a feather -

Hey, brave Johnie lad, cock up your beaver!

Cock up your beaver, and cock it fu' sprush!

We'll over the border and gie them a brush:

There's somebody there we'll teach better behavior -

Hey, brave Johnie lad, cock up your beaver!

It's usually pretty obvious as it takes up most of the pub, but most of the venues are smaller than the Dog, so may not be so obvious this time (you couldn't miss it at the Drum).

The usual method it the rolled up left trouser-leg. Or search east dulwich forum on flickr for a few faces to look for.

you'll see many of us in the photo links from past drinks. They are on the forum somewhere

(I would normally post a link but work prevents me from digging around for them)

The Dog is actually quite a big venue - are we booking a seperate section? That'll help newcomers if can say go to the left hand bar or whatever

It is still the most nervous I have been in years - the first time I had to actually ask "scuse me are you the EDF" a year ago at the CPT

Don't worry about it Kel. I drank a bottle of red wine before going to my first one as I was nervous as hell and I really needn't have been because everyone one I met was lovely and very friendly and made me feel welcome. I was only there for an hour or so first time but I'd made the connection and have been going ever since with the added bonus of making some very nice new friends along the way.

    • Thanks all!  KateS - boulangerie Jade is a nice cafe, but they don't do fresh cream cakes. Their eclairs are filled with patisserie cream (a kind of custard), not fresh cream. Azalea- thanks and I've been to Bunhead Bakery (a Palestinian bakery) in Herne Hill a few times. There's a nice chocolate bun they do, which is amazing when then sauce is warmed up. But I haven't seen any fresh cream things there, only white icing. Maybe it's only on a certain day.  And the last time I checked, Ayres bakers in Nunhead don't do fresh cream things. These are the kind of fresh baked goods I'm thinking of....
    • Warning to parents using the playground in Dulwich Park. My daughter and her friends found a bag of ‘crunchy powder’ in the children’s playground this morning around 11ish. They thought it was ‘popping candy’ and all tried some before seen with it. Request to parents using the playground - if you see plastics bags with suspect looking contents or powder on the floor in the playground or park: pick it up and throw it in the bin. Don’t walk past and think someone else will deal with it. The next person to walk by might be a child who could pick it up not understanding what it could be. Hopefully our daughter and her friends will be ok and it’s a lucky escape. But please be aware in case anyone else’s child may have found it before them.
    • I’m looking for some ply sheets, ideally 9mm or 12mm. It doesn’t have to look good. As long as it’s not rotten it’ll be fine. I’d like bigger sheets, but I’m open to whatever anyone’s got. If you can help, drop me a DM.  Cheers
    • the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this
