Long shot .. but here goes :

My late Nan's Uncle 'Edwin/Ted PERRY' had a Newsagents/Tobbacionist at 73 East Dulwich Grove from about 1926 till he died in 1952.

Business partner 'Sarah Finlayson' (from his Will).

A 'William E DOUGHTY' lived there c1948.

Also'Hector and Lilian PATTERSON' were living there after 1952 with Sarah Finlayson.

Any of the older members recall the shop?

Trying to solve a long term family mystery, nothing other than for curiosity sake.

I have the Electoral register list for some of "East Dulwich Grove" from 1948 - 1953. ODD numbers only.

If any help to anyone?

Thanks Rose.

The shop was the most Westward one in the terrace of shops immediately adjacent to Dulwich Hospital?

How about contacting the current owners to see if they will let you look at the deeds of the property where there may be some family history for you.

Just to add

My great Grandmother was living at 47 Fellbrigg Road Camberwell on 1891 Census

the only one I can find is in East Dulwich and the road appears to be still there.

Does not seem to be to far from East Dulwich Grove so I must be on the correct track!

1881 they were in Machell Road, again not too far away it appears.

Thanks.

In 1891, this would have referred to to the Borough of Camberwell, of which East Dulwich was part at that time. You will find some members of EDF, such as EDOldie, often lamenting its departure from the political map in 1965.

Hi Frisco

Thank you for the reply.

Checking the original copy of the Census you are correct.

Edwin/Ted Perry, his brother, cousin (Spencer) and at least one of Edwins sons were Public House Keepers.

Wonder if any of them ran pubs in the Dulwich area. They certainly moved around London.

Seasons greetings.

Rose

    • Thank you! She is both spayed and microchipped, and reported missing on Petlog and with the vets.   She normally never goes out the front, certainly for never more than 10-15 minutes, so this is definitely new territory for her. There is lots of dense foliage across the road so there are plenty of places she could be hiding if she is spooked, so we are hoping she will come back when she is calm. The weather isn't helping, she never goes out in the rain. Thank you again!
    • Hi, Have you been letting her out the front door onto the street or would this be a first & therefore unfamiliar with the area? Does she respond to a name & is she spayed & microchipped? Our team carry scanners on our daily routes & will of course be looking our for her. I hope you are reunited with her soon. If not already, notify your street & surrounding streets (find out if they have Whatsapp groups) Dox will print & deliver free missing posters https://www.doxdirect.com/help/free-missing-pet-posters/ Call her at dusk & dawn when street & foot traffic is at its lowest. • A slightly delayed review but another one to echo Niko's praises. I had an issue with a cistern that needed replacing and Niko was attentive and did a great job. He was very diligent, explained what he was doing and fixed issues from a previous plumber's work. I will definitely ask for his help again if I have any issues in the future.
    • In good condition.  The seal should be intact.  Thanks
