The spur track south of Peckham (visible on trains from ED station going into London Bridge) seems to be well on the way to completion. I wonder if the work at Denmark Hill would stop the line itself being completed?

The Overground line could start running and just not stop at Denmark Hill until work there is complete. We could start to see ghost Overground trains using the new route to bed in.

It would also not surpise me if an early limited service was started in time for the Olympics - a nice bit of PR for the Overground and for Boris.

TfL have told us (SRUG, Southwark Rail Users' Group) that the plan is to end the South London Line on 8th December and start the East London Line on the 9th December 2012. Indications are that all is on time.

From that point we will have the extra 4tph between Clapham Junction and Canada Water (Jubilee connection), but lose 2tph to London Bridge and Victoria. This will reduce the London Bridge trains to 4tph from Peckham Rye, and cut all trains to Victoria in the evenings and Sundays.

The campaign to get those Victoria gaps filled is still continuing and though the signs aren't good in that we haven't lost hope that something can be done. see here for the latest on that campaign.

If we lose the battle this year for that timetable, we will be campaigning hard to get the full 7 days a week service to and from Victoria into the rail franchise to be renewed in 2014.

These campaigns to be successful depend on a lot of informed users making their views known at the right time. So please join the email list ? email: [email protected]

    • Most of the groceries shops in Lordship Lane have a security presence…curious thing is I and another woman recently saw a shop lifter lift and not pay for a couple of packet of steaks, veg and bottle of wine..  Literally walked Pat the tills, one member of staff and security guard despite someone else going in front by a few people and mentioning person in question! I have to say, speechless and admired their bravado - I would not have the guts and knowing my luck, if I accidentally didn’t put something tru the till despite receipt would prob get stopped! Yes, worked with families, homeless and other people who were struggling for food so I do understand why they do it.. sad when you think about it, that in this day and age, all sorts of c people need assistance and help from community in general, food banks, olio etc….
