Good night at Ganapati, good food and company. My thoughts are that Ganapati is somewhat expensive for what it provides. It identifies its food as being south Indian street food, but at ?36 a head, that is very expensive street food.

Granted the menu is not the usual curry house menu, but the ingredients are the same, the decor is south Indian cafe stylee so attractive but basic and the rent in that part of Peckham is unlikely to be hugely inflated. So why the high prices? I guess because they can and it is a way of differentiating themselves from the competition. They are usually busy, although there were a number of empty tables yesterday.

I wonder whether some competition, another Indian restaurant opening in Bellenden would bring prices down, as people would have an alternative in that part of town?

Anyway, February - Lets go Swadesh as we did Mirash in December. Wednesday 29 February.

    • Hello, I’m currently looking to buy Jellycat soft toys and LEGO sets for my children. If you have any available for sale, please feel free to message me. Thank you!
    • Useful link, thanks. I see that neither of the Dulwich Hill councillors are standing again but one of the new Labour candidates for DH recently left the Lib Dems… The Greens are led by someone who left the Lib Dems and full of people who left Labour. Reform is full of those who left the Tories. And the Tories are full of those who left our planet some time ago. Confused? You will be!
    • I'm sorry to learn that though Liam does seems well qualified. Hopefully with McAsh gone, Southwark Labour will turn to Charlie to fill the gap.
    • As I understand it Charlie Smith did put himself forward for selection in GG but Labour members chose someone else to represent them, Liam McGrath https://southwarklabour.com/our-candidates/   It'll be interesting to see if there are other defections - surely the Greens want a drip, drip, drip of news from now to May suggesting the momentum is with them.
