Im due in September, My daughter will be two years and nine months by this point.

I have two baby slings so im thinking in the very early days new born in the sling and toddler im the maclaren when we venture out.

I dont want my daughter to feel pushed out when the second one comes along and my mum has suggested getting a double pram. I've seen the Phil and teds which seem quite popular.

Has anyone any other brands they can recommened or views on the phils and teds? Thanks!!

have you thought about getting a double maclaren with a carrycot for the baby? I know my friend had a similar age gap so she bought a phil and teds and she regretted it. She didnt like having the baby underneath, missing out on the face time looking down at the baby and when the little one got older she wished they were side by side . she also found it very heary and bulky to move around. they are very popular so she may have been the odd one out but she wished she had got a double maclaren with carrycot.

P&T's are good because of the slimline - i.e. they don't take masses of space (at home, on bus, in car boot). BUT, they are quite heavy and yes, little one will generally get relegated to the bottom seat - not a biggie when they are tiny but later on, toddler and baby could take turns to go on the upper seat.

I have tried a Mini City Jogger side by side. Veeery easy to push, really good steering so you don't have to force your arms/wrists. It is great because you can use from birth also and the kids sit side by side so they both get to enjoy 'the views'. BUT, it is wider (although it fits through most doors/shops) so it might take more space in your car or hallway. That said, they fold incredibly easily.

I'm not sure I'm helping much, sorry. I think it really depends on what you will be using it for mostly. If you have to go on public transport a lot, then I'd say P&T. If you have your own car, then maybe the side-by-side ones are more 'sociable' for the kids and you don't have to worry about who sits on top (which can get tricky with the toddler refusing to sit in the bottom bit. Also, think where the buggy will be when you are not using it and how much space you have available. Is your hallway wide enough for a side-by-side one or maybe you are lucky to have a cupboard where you can store it.

Just another point of view.

I really liked the Adventure Buggy Co Everest pram for that kind of gap. Provided you don't need the oldest one to sleep it was great. Not so good for folding down though, I used to mainly use it locally and keep a Maclaren in the car.

They do come up on eBay but pricey if buying new (not sure you can get them new in the uk).

    • There was an excellent discussion on Newscast last night between the BBC Political Editor, the director of the IFS and the director of More In Common - all highly intelligent people with no party political agenda and far more across their briefs than any minister I've seen in years. The consensus was that Labour are so unpopular and untrusted by the electorate already, as are the Conservatives, that breaking the manifesto pledge on income tax wouldn't drive their approval ratings any lower, so they should, and I quote, 'Roll The Dice', hope for the best and see where we are in a couple of years time. As a strategy, i don't know whether I find that quite worrying or just an honest appraisal of what most governments actually do in practice.
    • They are a third of the way through their term Earl. It's no good blaming other people anymore. They only have three years left to fix what is now their own mess. And its not just lies in the manifesto. There were lies at the last budget too, when they said that was it, they weren't coming back for more tax and more borrowing. They'd already blamed the increase in NIC taxes on what they claimed was a thorough investigation. They either knew everything then or they lied about that too .   They need to stop lying and start behaving. If they don't the next government won't be theirs, it will be led by Nigel Farage.  They have to turn it round rapidly. Blaming other people, telling lies and breaking promises isn't going to cut it any more.
    • Is it lame? Or is it Lamey? (sorry)
