GG it was only me who got a Kebab, so the others can be let off... Although Mike went for curry! I'm really enjoying this, nice to do something with friendly people where you can all learn and improve together. Often I. and I suspect lots of people, get put off sports and gyms because you get so many people who forget that they started somewhere, or used to be a few sounds over weight. It's intimidating and not very supportive.

Ahhhhh well that is certainly the beauty of the ED Feather Thwackers, we don't play by the rules, or care about carrying extra pounds, or laugh at peoples hairy legs or wobbly bits, or care about the lairy glary glow from our shorts or socks we just strive to move forward in a badminton-esque fashion.

Laters taters GG

I must say that a curry with chums after an hour of badminton is a great way of replacing those vital bodily humours. I recommend it to all sensible athletes.

I cant make next Wednesday or the Wednesday after that (20/2 and 27/2) and may well be late for the Wednesday after that (5/3) - but dont forget me Oh My Darlings!

I am really sorry but I cannot come tonight. No lift I'm afraid Emily.

I hope you find some replacements cos I am v. conscious that we booked 3 courts for tonight. If you don't cover costs, let me know and I'll chip in as this is such a late pull out.

I'm up for it next week as usual. Have a good night tonight.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
