SeanMacGabhann
Wending our way down towards EDT last night to meet some of the forum regulars we passed G&B on the way and decided to stop for one in the new bar...I had been to the old bar a number of times but always a gamble that you might be the only people there, however last night we could see plenty of people already there and it looked like a great atmosphereLong story short, we never got to EDT. Stayed in G&B all night and had a terrific time. Great atmosphere, plenty of staff to cope with a fairly busy night and all in good form. And the Pieminster pies went down a treat as well. But I still wish I got to meet forumites - ah well, always Wednesday next week Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/231-green-blue-v20/ Share on other sites
Quaywe
Seconded. I went to G&B on Friday night and it was great. Very good wines on offer, you can actually buy them from the shop and take them through and drink them in the bar. Also you can BYOF (Bring your own food) and pay ?3 "chippage" for plates and cutlery etc while you drink their wine. Good thinking 99!5 Stars from me - a drastic improvement. See you Wednesday for those going. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/231-green-blue-v20/#findComment-3866 Share on other sites

batdog
I have to say the GreenBlue is improved a lot, especially the staff attitude towards paying customers.Still they do not have one of my favourite Italian wines, will go back soon. NOW it's a place worth to go to... (tu) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/231-green-blue-v20/#findComment-3884 Share on other sites

TJS
I also went on Saturday evening, we very later afternoon, and again the set-up is much better, simple bar layout.....I asked for a recommendation and explained my favs, and i got to taste a bit before ordering my glass, then enjoyed it so much bought a bottle as well (which was added to my bar tab and wrapped and bagged, chilled) and wondered off home to enjoy it. Always liked G&B, but now the deli is appearing too and the space is much bigger....big plus....in the summer when they open the boors in the bar, it will become even more appealing. timtim
We went on Friday night and agree with all the above... the changes to layout have been a great success. If you have even a minor interest in wine, you will appeciate how lucky we are to have this place so close to home. To be able to browse the shelves then take a bottle to the bar to drink is fantastic. The staff are very knowledgable and accomodating... I saw some people raising an eyebrow that there was no beer available on tap, but isn't that kind of like going to a Chinese and ordering chicken & chips?T Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/231-green-blue-v20/#findComment-3915 Share on other sites
Keef
Fair point, but if one half of a couple is a big wine lover, and the other half doesn't really enjoy it, it would be nice to have the option to keep both happy.... Not suggesting a range of beers, it is after all a wine shop, but one decent option might be nice. Keef
Yes I know that, and maybe the people that enjoy wine, but who's partners don't, would go in there and spend their money, if their partners were catered for...If they do bottled beer though, that would seem to solve the problem.I've not been there, so I'm not judging, just making a point. I personally enjoy both beer and wine, depending on the occasion, but wine for me is more a thing to open at home with a nice meal, or just nice company, wine bar is not really my thing, but all power to them, and I'm glad to hear they're doing well, and pleasing the punters. Quaywe
Fear not, they do have draught beer (Staropramen and San Miguel I think), they just hadn't taken delivery of the kegs on the weekend. Polly D
Could someone do me a favour tomorrow at the wine tasting please? 'Tis the boyf's birthday on Saturday and I'm running out of ideas for pressies. If you taste something delectable (must be red), on the heavy, rich, fruity blah de blah side and costing around ?20-25 that is particularly yum, please could you make a note of the name and then post it? Thanks in advance and have a good time! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/231-green-blue-v20/#findComment-4098 Share on other sites
bumbalina
There's a wine I love and I mean LOVE!!!!! It's the Valle Reale Montepulciano D'Abruzzo 2002. It's 13? (take away), so under your requested price, but it's meaty, spicy and scrumptious. It?s worth those sexy red wine lips and teeth. CrystalClear
It was *very nice* I can second that. Wouldn't reccomend eating it with Chinese lead cakes though. bumbalina
I have seen the ACTUAL bottle MP is speaking of and drunk the wine - very crisp and tasty. I do believe that Leapfrogmilch was a distant memory when this pic was taken. Hopefully, we will have a few more of those sunny lazy days of Spring this year. CrystalClear
To tell the truth I'm not entirely sure Polly. It was cake, from China, and sat very heavily.
