03smithjl
On my walk to and from work, I walk through Dulwich Park using the Dulwich Park Road entrance/exit. When I walked through at midday today everything looked absolutely fine. However when I walked back through later at about 4:45pm, there was phallic graffiti sprayed all over the floor!! I'm sure I wouldn't have blindly walked past this first time around... Outrageous. creditwheredue
Where?s Dulwich Park Road?I watched a video this morning, The Tour De France have a team which go out early in the morning to change the knob graffiti using paint rollers to turn it into some other unrecognisable form.Must be a camera director?s nightmare trying to avoid any that got missed. Humdinger
If you are going to be outraged by graffiti in a large urban global city such as London, then you are going to be shocked and annoyed a lot in life. I dont think some spray paint on the floor of a park is going to do anyone any harm at all. Even if it is "phallic"! JohnL
Rye Lane's graffiti seems to be treated as art work - but strangely we don't have phallic stuff. Nigello
Humdinger, it DOES do harm, at least a little. It makes people think that others are actively hostile and nihilistic and that is unpleasant. It also, in other forms, denotes "territories" and is thus threatening to some. Also do not think that it is only youngsters that do this. Around East Dulwich there were grown men writing small graffiti 'messages' on a lot of public buildings and structures at one time. savvygirl
There's a book called "Sh*t London" which is very amusing and where a picture of this would not be out of place! London is edgy in the sense that it can be a bit scruffy and unpredictable. I would hate to see all parts gentrified to the point of uninteresting blandness. Not sure about phallic graffiti on the path though although it's an obvious upgrade from the lavatory door! Zig-Zag
I think it must have been cleaned up as I did two circuits of the park at 7.30pm and didn't see anything. Though there were a group of young men with motorbikes in the park where motorized vehicles are prohibited Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/232147-graffiti-in-dulwich-park/#findComment-1356056 Share on other sites

Passiflora
It's just another low level kind of anti social behaviour that needs to be sorted. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/232147-graffiti-in-dulwich-park/#findComment-1356288 Share on other sites
