Sunday trains

Could somebody advise if the trains are running today? (sorry peeps couldn't find out elsewhere).

Not from East Dulwich. You can always check by putting in your journey here - and it will let you know if it's running normally or if it's a bus replacement service.

Thanks for asking because I also wanted to kno,w and it's not shown on the TfL transport planner that trains aren't running on that line.

TfL's fine for bus, tube, tram and Overground info, but useless for rail in my experience...

Yeh they don't seem very joined up.

The TfL site said there was no rail service between Norwood Junction and somewhere or other, but nothing about the East Dulwich line.

Bus and tube for us today, then :))

If you want to ring Rail Enquiries but not using the 08xx number, use this one: 020 7068 0519 . It is good for mobiles which would usually cost you an arm and a leg.

Also good is www.traintimes.org.uk which uses the National Rail info but in a tidier format and without the adverts...

Hmmm. Just tried that for this coming Sunday (13 May), but it just gave me train times from London Bridge to East Dulwich, nothing about a bus replacement service.

But when I phoned the number Nero gave above, they said there was a bus replacement service that day.

So now I have no idea whether there is or not!! Need to find out for somebody else.

The screen at the bottom of Platform 1 today advised that there was a bus replacement service for Sun 13 May

The following changes apply:

Buses will run between London Bridge and Streatham Common calling at all stations to Tulse Hill, Streatham Hill, Streatham and Streatham Common

London Bridge - Crystal Palace services will NOT run

Buses replace trains between London Bridge and London Victoria

I wouldn't rely on a bus replacement service, you can get normal buses from London Bridge to ED anyway :)

When in doubt it's usually safe to assume that there are no trains on any given Sunday.

I tried that number twice today and it was "not available".

Hope you haven't caused them to withdraw it Nero :))

I've just stored this number in my phone - thanks. I use Peckham Rye but up until now I have tended to use a very unscientific but highly accurate calculation Sunday = no trains. It is very rare to see a normal service on Sundays. Hopefully once the new line is finished we can get back to normal (unless of course this is the new normal)

Don't hold your breath, weekend service (Sunday in particular) has been intermittent for as long as I've been here - almost 10 years. This already is normal.

Is this really the case? I'm trying to work out how someone can get to ED from Gatwick on Sunday 27th. What adds to the confusion is that The Trainline suggests a route GA-East Croy.-ED, while National Rail has either go to LB or Clapham J. I didn't know there were any trains from East Croydon to ED. Can anyone confirm that there are please and is the Sunday service to ED from anywhere as completely unreliable as people are saying?

No trains from E Croydon to E Dul I fear.

They suggest E Croydon - Vic, Vic - Peck Rye, Peck Rye to ED.

Hi Alan,

Trainline.com is correct. On weekdays trains are scheduled to run to and from West Croydon. However, on Saturdays and Sundays (and bank holidays) the trains run from and to East Croydon.

There are only 2 trains an hour from East Croydon, so you may also wish to consider taking the Thameslink from Gatwick to London Bridge (fast - only 2 stops) and then from London Bridge you can get the train East Dulwich.

You just need to check that the trains are running on the date you require
