it won't go down well with some people on here at all!

but it was always going to be that kind of retail space - given the permission that space has and the size it is, what would people prefer to see there if they don't like this kind of shop?

hahaha, I really objected to the White Stuff on the grounds that we're turning into Clapham, but the real truth is I find their clothes ugly and boring. Oliver Bonas on the other hand has all the lovely random tat that I like to buy - I'm torn - should I be upset that we're turning more and more into Clapham every day, or should I succumb to the inevitable with grace and buy a cushion?

guitars - tin pan alley

ps to all those guitar freaks - was in same school year as Tony Zematis's son (also Tony). Went round to his house - his dad just had his workshop tacked on to the back of their bungalow. Amazing stuff.

...or Ed or Moo Too or...

Another boring middle class shop with boring tat! Does anyone else long for the days when you could cross Lordship Lane on a sunday without being 'four wheeled', or having a pint in the Foresters 'cause it was a bloody good honest laugh!

    • Because of the weather which delayed completion with roofer only being able to work certain days, it was up from November - end of January. Went slightly higher than gutters (we also had guttering replaced).
    • It's tough being a courier and the pay which is largely based on the number they deliver is miserable. Hence the staff turnover is high. EFRI was previously branded as HERMES but they had to create a new brand name because of poor performance. We get regular courier deliveries and EVRI are by far the worst. They just drop the parcel at the front door - often without ringing the bell. But worst is when they deliver to the equivalent door number on LL instead of ours on EDG. Best are ParcelForce, DHL and DPD by a wide margin.
    • I know the couple you mean, and she has always been friendly and smiley when delivering to me, but obviously in a hurry, for all the reasons outlined in the thread. My gate is always open, however (unless someone coming to the house closes it when they leave). I can't see the point of gates that have to be opened and shut again every time someone comes to the house. It just seems a waste of time, and it's annoying if you are carrying stuff. And a closed gate  conveys a sort of "my house is my fortress" feel. To me, anyway.
    • Thanks for posting this. Really interesting. It would be good if you added a star rating, so that it was easier to do comparisons / see what your top recommendations are. Great blog though!
