James Barber has already confirmed if M&S decide to pull out or look for a bigger unit (police station, co-op?) Waitrose are ready and waiting to take on this site as it is. Either way, it seems the outcome is the demise of Iceland who have served the locally community for close to forty years now (previously this was a Bejam store rebranded) and I will be sad to see them go.

Are you sure?

The Bejam store sold freezers as well as frozen food. I think I actually bought one there.

ETA: I've never heard of a "Sainsbury's freezer centre", but I stand to be corrected!

They're still pushing for a rear extension.

Documents haven't been added yet, so hard to say what's different about the latest application.

James (Barber),

Another poster , Jeremy, kindly provided a link in an earlier post today ( see above and http://planningonline.southwark.gov.uk/AcolNetCGI.exe?ACTION=UNWRAP&RIPNAME=Root.PgeResultDetail&TheSystemkey=9553324).

I wonder if the item was submitted and then withdrawn as a search of planning does not bring it up but as the earlier link shows it is, or has been, on the site...it says the application is dated 28.1.2014. It is made by a Mr M Lerner and submitted by planning specialists Planning Perspectives LLP.

Hi first amte,

i don't believe the application has been validated hence why not showing in searches. Planning officers check an application is fully complted before accepting it and the formal clock starts ticking. Validation can take anything from hours to many weeks.

Sorry FM, I can't do links from this device. When I looked at it yesterday it stated refurb of ground floor retail, and new flats on 1st floor etc. Seems very odd it can't be found now. Something dodgy is afoot.

Interesting... who are the 124 neighbours that have been consulted? No one in the vicinity that's for sure!

    • We couldn’t be happier with the work that Lukasz has done on our house. We had a long list of assorted tasks after moving in, including hanging some large mirrors and pictures, re-sealing a WC sink and a kitchen sink, fixing the front gate, repairing a broken shutter louvre, and fixing a stuck bathroom door. Lukasz handled each task expertly and everything was executed perfectly. He even did the job over 2 visits upon our request due to one of the mirrors not being delivered on time by the retailer. Lukasz has been a pleasure to deal with throughout. He was super responsive on WhatsApp, polite and respectful of our property, and left the place spotless because he brought his own hoover! He is a star, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.
    • If you have what I and several people I know have / have had, it can make you feel quite blue. It’s common to feel depressed when you’re unwell. This thing takes a good couple of weeks at least before you feel back to normal, so go easy on yourself x
    • Fair enough. Perhaps I’m wrong  but the country can either have rising house prices or affordable housing. Which means falling house prices right? or is there a scenario where all of the existing housing stock rises in value while the hundreds of thousands of new, affordable  homes are somehow immune to the same market forces? How do we build enough affordable houses for our children yet insist on our own houses going up in value? Both can’t be true. Enough new housing stock has to lower existing housing prices  if  not , where am I wrong?
    • I don't really see the linkage between the two factors tbh
