Police Cordon Gowlett Road

I don't understand this statement, what help does someone who's prepared to go out and stab someone need?

Although this seems to be part of a series of criminal offences, and hence probably not relevant, random violence I'm afraid can be symptomatic of those suffering some mental health disorders (although self-harm is tragically far more common). This can be particularly so with people suffering paranoid delusions (sometimes chemically induced or exacerbated).

In these cases 'help' is far more appropriate than punishment.

It seems SE22 is up there in the violent crime stats

First I'd heard of this that happened last year- not far from me. It would be useful to be warned of these crimes in the area for those who do not read the Southwark news.

I suggest that people get an understanding of crime in the area by turning up at their ward Police Safer Neighbourhood Team meetings. It would appear that many of these meetings have low attendance rates and I gather there is concerns as to why poorly attended - is it the venue or the times of the meetings, or apathy ?.

Just go to the Met Police SNT page to find out more about your ward's meeting dates and Police Officers.

When there is a relatively affluent area (East Dulwich) beside a poverty ridden area (Peckham), then it doesnt take a genius to work out that criminals are going to come to the affluent area to rob, steal, mug and burgle.

see also, Herne Hill and Brixton. For a while, Herne Hill had the highest rate of burglary in the U.K.

@Humdinger, they are alleged perpetrators. In acting as if you have personal knowledge of them and their activities, you can make yourself potentially liable to prosecution under the Contempt of Court Act: https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1981/49/crossheading/strict-liability. Follow the newspaper's example. They're professionals who know what they're doing, and act with integrity.

I hope the victim makes a full recovery. This violence is unusual, especially in our area.

Police stats for Good Green ward where this happened can be found here - https://www.met.police.uk/sd/stats-and-data/met/crime-data-dashboard/ also see attached.

In summary 144 reported crimes per thousand population. Goose Green ward has the 4th lowest reported crime rate in Southwark out of 23 wards for the period August 2019 to July 2019.
