after having the grave misfortune of being duped into watching england on saturday evening, i don't want them to do well

i will be supporting germany and couldn't give a monkey's what anyone thinks- i'm happy to admit that i'm very much a fair weather england fan- all my football love is for tottenham

the only reason i'll watch the england games is to ensure parker and defoe don't get injured

i think france will surprise a few people

germany, spain, netherlands, france as semi-finalists

england to scrape second in the group and lose to spain in the q-final

Why were you alarmed? It was a friendly, with 6 substituations allowed, and the manager's first chance to have a look at the players as the boss.

Given the dearth of English talent in the top teams it's harldy surprising to be dipping into the mediocre ones for a squad of 22.

Funny that it's liverpool causing such chagrin despite your pleas that you don't have an unhealthy obsession with them, you could have commented on the goalie having spent the whole season in the championship for instance!!

The only thing 'alarming' about the England performance was that it was like all the other pre-tourny performances...

Very Capello-like in their possession footy and in passing it around with an air of calm nonchalance and the usual disintegration into impotence in the second half...

all very sedate and unruffled... as usual...

until the first proper competitive game when they will all hurry the ball around as though it were a grenade with the pin out, pass badly, hit long balls and generally play with the fear, panic and lack of skill that has categorised England's major tournament performances for years.

one of two warm-up games for a tournament in which he gave games to three players not going to said tournament (including one that didn't even make the stand-by list)

Baffling

I guess if you deeply care it could be alarming.

In my experience the majority of England fan's level of concern has withered from deep to marginal over the last 18 years or so.

Baffling is better, par for the course though so perhaps 'meh' would more accurately sum up reactions to the game.

"You are only as good as your weakest link" said my football coach during my playing days. And so most of these Liverpool players are weak links as far as I'm concern. However I do get this feeling that Carroll would perform well during the tournament. He was unplayable judging by his last two FA match appearances and is peaking at the right time. He would be a key player for England as long as he stays away from booze and women.

Not quite, Green is a top class keeper as long as he keeps his nerves. Fortunately Joe Hart is world class and will give England the confidence to progress in the tournament.

Mine once said "Ohhhhh you are a bloody disgrace! Hey Baz!*... For missing the target from there you want bloody shooting!"

*He always called me that.

Hmmm... do you still play then? Will you admit who you support when you stop playing? I think that is a bog standard excuse for not coming out and admitting what team you support. Everybody who follows football supports a specific team. I expect you'll be the exception to the rule though.

Anyway..... back to the Euros.

Ummmm...... not much to report really apart from Birmingham City's keeper coming in for the injured Ruddy. What a ruddy shame for him.

Why the buggery fcuk is Jordan Henderson on standby for England if Lampard doesn't make it? He's had a crap season by anyone's standards. Roy Hodgson seems to be having a bit of a love in with Liverpool's players - Johnson, Downing, Gerrard and Carroll have all had very mediocre seasons. Why not Micah Richards, Adam Johnson, Aaron Lennon and Peter Crouch. All of whom have performed better over the same period.

I woldn't want to see Gerrard left out, and I genuinely think this could be Carroll's time to shine. I like Croutch, but I don't think he's really good enough against the top sides. Carroll may not be either, but it's his turn to have a chance.

Can't believe that Micah Richards & Aaron Lennon aren't going!

Big mistake, but my Aunt was very old, and this was the Covid years and shortly after so impossible to intervene and get a couple of close relatives to do this.  She had no children so this is the nephews and nieces. He is a single practitioner, and most at his age would have long since retired - there is a question over his competence Two letters have already gone essentially complaining - batted off and 'amusingly' one put the blame on us. There are five on our side, all speaking to each other, and ideally would work as a single point of contact.  But he has said that this is not allowed - we've all given approval to act on each others behalf. There are five on her late husband's side, who have not engaged with us despite the suggestion to work as a team, There is one other, who get's the lion's share, the typicical 'friend', but we are long since challenging the will. I would like to put another complaint together that he has not used modern collective communication (I expect that he is incapable) which had seriously delayed the execution of the will.   I know many in their 80s very adept with smart phones so that is not an ageist comment. The house has deteriorated very badly, with cold, damp and a serious leak.  PM me if you want to see the dreadful condition that it is now in. I would also question why if the five of us are happy to work together why all of us need to confirm in writing.
    • Isn’t a five yearly electricity safety certificate one of the things the landlord must give for a legal tenancy?
    • Very sorry to hear this, but surely the landlord is responsible for fixing the electrics?  Surely they must be insured for things like this? I hope you get it all sorted out quickly.

We have been forced to close for one of the busiest weekends of the year, losing thousands of pounds in income, and are now having to fight our landlords for support with the leak. We are asking all our allies for support as we try and reignite the crowdfunder to reflect the new expensive work that needs to take place, and the gear we need to replace. Thank you in advance for your support so far, and your support going forward.
