Have you ever stood on Lordship Lane on a Saturday and eavesdropped on the conversations of passers-by?

It's a steady flow of people congratulating themselves (and each other) on where they live.

Give it a go. It's a hoot! (You can pretend you're making a phone call - for cover - if you like).

Hee Hee.. as a matter of fact, I was guarding a child (our own, I hasten to add) whilst waiting for *someone* to come out of a shop. But the eavesdropping bit really was most entertaining.

The other thing I noticed for the first time were groups of tourists/out-of-towners - in abundance. Idling down the Lane, window-shopping and checking out the menus like they're on holiday in Spain or something.

how the hell did "I" get dragged into this?

tcha - but yes, more people, more coo-ing. I was in Black Cherry a few weeks back on a busy Sat night, supping some pureed chips through a straw. Mrs Mockney got talking to some Mancs an asked what they weere down for. They said just a weekend in London - so she said fair enough but why ED.. They said the area is now well know around the country as a top night out...

Seriously.. Keep an eye-out for 'em. Weekend day-trippers.

I can understand how you go to Tooting for the curry, Brixton and Clapham for the bar and club scene, Greenwich for the river, museums, markets, and Streatham for the.. er.. ok not Streatham.

But ED? Perhaps it's a new sport. Pram-dodging.

There's a woman whos on my bus when I get on at Vauxhall... Every bloomin' morning she's on her fone talk to some member of her long extended family discussing her teenage sons new girlfriend, school results, hockey team arguments before moving on to her great great aunt (twice removed) who live in the south of France who has troubles wiv her "water" :| I tell ya the things I know about that woman's life!

    • I've never been a big fan of the Royals - I used to think that their severed heads should be hung all along The Mall, but I've softened as I've got older. A slimmed down monarchy would be quite profitable for the UK, and a better option than an elected ceremonial president. Apparently, William has had quite a role in the uncompromising treatment of Andrew & Fergie and Harry & Megan - it reminded me of Michael Corleone's purge of the family's enemies at the end of 'The Godfather'. It was brutal, but at least Michael waited until his father, Don Vito, was dead to secure the future of the family business. William is putting his complications out of the picture now - I'd avoid massages or revolving doors if I was Beatrice or Eugenie. I think I'm developing a sneaking admiration for William.
    • I belong in “ should wear on” especially after bus and hospital visits last time I was up - a month ago and Gita virus which took 3 weeks to leave me.. In future, always in London especially in confined spaces..bus, tube, train etc, will be doing so. In vulnerable cat so can’t afford to get sick as have family responsibilities as well. On that note, only had 3 Covid jabs so far and very reluctant to get more… would like to avoid flu shot as well - only doing that as gotta come up for hosp apts in Jan..  had enough junk been in my body in last year - on that note, and I know it is personal pref/choice would be interested in hearing from other vulnerable as a matter of interest only - not judgement at all….
    • I know I should, but I don't. I carry one with me and put it on if someone is coughing and sneezing on the bus (or if I am). Problem is it's a bit disgusting wearing one  if you've got a cold.
    • How many people posting here wear a proper mask when they go out?  I do.    Mask wearing will stop you getting many illnesses, not just Covid.
