What kind of shop/eaterie would you like to see on LL?

Not Lordship Lane, but a shortish walk from it, the little supermarket type shop in Bellenden Road on the left as you head towards Peckham has a great range of really fresh fruit, veg and herbs outside, at very reasonable prices.

I got a load there after I had stocked up at Gather (cooking a load of stuff to freeze).

Not a shortish walk at all Sue from Lordship Lane! I would have thought the arty farty shops on Bellenden Road already have enough foot fall from the fall out of the old shops that used to be there.

Well about ten minutes' walk, I'd have said, from the Goose Green end of Lordship Lane. That's shortish.

I don't understand the rest of your post. I'm not trying to drum up trade for the shop because they need more people to go there. I'm suggesting they have a great selection of good quality and reasonably priced fruit and veg, or at least they have had whenever I go past.

I bought a load there last week.

Basically, If I'm out buying Vegetables.. Potatoes, Onions , and other Veg. along with anything

else i need to buy, I do not want to Lug them all the way from Bellenden Road.

Shopping in Sainsbury's The P13 stops outside and stops less that 200 yards from my house.

180 steps in fact..

I do now have a shopping trolley which holds more than I can carry in shopping bags.

Therefore a good Greengrocer on Lordship Lane would be greatly appreciated.

I brought all my stuff back in a shopping trolley. Yes it was quite heavy but that was mainly with stuff from Gather in my own glass jars.

But I grow my own potatoes etc so less to buy and less to carry.

All good exercise, whatever!

As regards Lordship Lane, it would be very boring if it sold everything. There wouldn't be much reason to go to different places then!

Southwark News had an article today about how Lidl are wanting to open eight or more stores in the Southwark area pretty soon.

Dulwich and East Dulwich were on the list of the eight areas.

I know Sue, but imagine when Burns night came along and you could nip out to your local kilt shop, so avoiding a trip to Scotland.

Plus you could pick up a stuffed badger or stoat while you were at it.

I used to trek down to the Lidl in Peckham, but it got too much like a trip to Ikea. Too many impulse buys because things are so cheap.

I still have cornichons in honey (why?!) in my cupboard from a Lidl visit several years ago :))

I don't think this is necessarily so - American Diners are most marked by (a) having counter service with long counters and table service (b) opening at breakfast (served American style) and continuing to serve throughout the day into the evening © serving both full meals and snacks (such as coffee and pie). I was really talking about the food offering which is I seem to remember is burgers, fried chicken, hot dogs, nachos, shakes, etc.

Clearly it doesn't have that American diner vibe and aesthetic, but it's hard to do that without becoming some sort of tacky pastiche.
