With all due respect, Lordship lane is full of stores, very similar to each other, we have at least 6 or 7 pizza places, iv lost count. 9 cafes, and delis doubling up as cafes. about 5 delis, 5 whole food Healthstores. I really don't think people have an issue in repeating what we already have.

And Boulangerie Jade and thd Blackbird (seven days a week 5 minutes walk away and in the market on Saturdays). I?d love to know what sort of bakery goods aren?t covered by those 4.

Did you lose that as well ? Maybe it's where you left the curry houses 🤔😂

Five?

There's Health Matters obviously.

SMBS and Organic Village sell wholefoods.

There's the new place, can't remember what it's called.

Have I missed one? Gather is brilliant for wholefoods, but it's in Bellenden Road, not Lordship Lane.

We have probably one of the Best Pie and Mash shops 'on the Planet' nearby in Peckham.

I cannot see any outlet on Lorship Lane matching those prices.

It would be 'Posh' Pies. Probably ?10 - ?12 at the very best.

That is NOT what Pie and Mash is all about.

Foxy

ETA Manze in Peckham is Cash only..

A decent Chinese restaurant would be great - I don't rate the food at the newly refurbed Mr Liu's and it's also quite pricey. Also a Vietnamese restaurant would be fantastic although I don't mind doing the bus ride to Camberwell. I would like to support local restaurants on Lordship Lane but find myself underwhelmed by the stodgy and expensive offerings.

This would mean you actually venturing into Peckham of course. And drawing out cash there too. You don't normally advocate either...

Give it a Rest. you are getting boring.

I am In Peckham several times a week. FFS I was born there and lived there for 28 years.

Why would I need to draw out cash there ??

I use Manze. My late mother used that same shop back in the 1930s/40s

She worked in the shop next door.

I just do not find the need to eat or drink there at night.

Lordship Lane on my door step provides me with most of my needs.

You know. Supporting my Local traders.

Please find someone else to harass.

Think we will all stop calling you out on Peckham issues when you stop running it down!

Your respect is appreciated, but unnecessary... you can shoot from the hip, it's water off a duck's back, etc etc. Add in any further idioms/proverbs as necessary.

I do think that Lordship Lane is close enough to Bellenden Rd and the south of Rye Lane to be considered direct competition. But yes I suppose the wider area could take two decent Thai or Middle-Eastern restaurants.

There was also a wider point I was making, in an admittedly goading manner.. that Peckham has lots going on, if you're willing to take the short-ish walk and put up with the admittedly scruffy main road.

    • To which one do you refer - the original OHS consultation from 2017? BTW here are the guidelines on consultations: Consultation is technically any activity that gives local people a voice and an opportunity to influence important decisions. It involves listening to and learning from local people before decisions are made or priorities are set.    It seems the voice only apllies if constituents agree with the council's proposals...if they disagree thays when they claim "this was not a referendum".  ...you forgot to mention that the polling was conducted amongst those who live WITHIN an LTN...an important, perhaps deliberate, ommission in your part..
    • Ahh, the local election where even if Labour said they were going to slaughter all first born, people would still have voted for them to stick one to Boris snd the tories 🤣 You really can't take that as an endorsement for a scheme that felt marginal compared to how people felt about bigger issues..
    • @Earl Aelfheah do you find living on a busy and polluted road funny? Why? I simply can't afford moving away - is this amusing and if so, why?
    • They have. They asked in the original consultation. I’ve talked about it above. Around 3000 people (57% of a self selecting sample), were against the scheme. But the point you seem to be struggling with is that it wasn’t a referendum. We don't routinely have referenda on matters public policy in the UK (Brexit aside). We elect people to make decisions and then we judge the quality of those decisions in the round, and either re-elect them, or kick them out. That’s representative democracy. It’s not a good idea imo, but happy to listen if you do want to make the case for the routine use of referenda in matters of public policy. Not so much if you just want to use it selectively for a single issue you feel strongly about. Still ducking the question I’ve posed to you more than once now on claim of inadequate signage and intimidation of emergency services I note. I actually think the majority quietly support the local LTN. The local elections suggest that most people either support it, or don’t feel strongly enough either way for it to stop them re-electing those who oversaw the implementation (even though opposition voices touted the local elections as a referendum on the LTN). Polling across London suggest most Londoners support them generally. Again, I don’t believe in routinely holding referenda on matters of public policy. There are many reasons for this but that's another thread. Hopefully any sensible person reflecting on it for a second will understand the reasons why it wouldn’t be desirable. As above, if you're just interested in using it selectively for a single issue you feel strongly about, I'm not really interested. ....Still waiting for someone to defend One Dulwich’s claims as laid out above. 🥱
