Muttley
One of those rare glimpses of East Dulwich's past is visible in the building/shops being done up in the strip opposite BBC. You can make out the following sign above the shop fronts: ARSENA CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY Anyone know its history? ARSENA? And any news on what this never-ending rebuild is going to become?Edited 1 time(s). Last edit was today, 03:36pm by Muttley. SimonM
The local co-ops were all part of "The Royal Arsenal Co-operative Society" - known just as "R.A.C.S" for short. I assume they began in Woolwich and have nothing whatsoever to do with a French football team in North London....:)) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2399-co-operative-sign-opposite-bombay-bicycle/#findComment-70430 Share on other sites

OutOfFocus
Woolwich and have nothing whatsoever to do with a French football team in North LondonI don't claim to know much about football, but I believe that Arsenal FC originated at Woolwich Arsenal so there is some connection.
