Why are there so few runners in the South London area?

I've been running regulary for around 5 years now, twice a week for around an hour a time. I often run at various different

hours in the week including what one would think of as being 'peak-hours' e.g. those when the bulk of people have finished work, across various different routes encompassing large parts of Dulwich, East Dulwich, Denmark Hill, Peckham, New Cross, Greenwich etc.

Amazes me how few people I see out and about, yet the amount of slobs I see on my runs usually vastly outnumbers those trying to keep fit.

Where are all the runners?!

Who are these slobs? Would you describe one? I'd like to avoid if at all possible as they don't sound nice.

I am not a runner as I think it looks boring and if there is a point to it, it's beyond my understanding. I suppose each to their own. I've done plenty of pointless things in my time, this being just one of them.

    • I have two pillows we bought to try out - used once or twice - but didn't work out for us. Here's one: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/rosenskaerm-ergonomic-pillow-side-back-sleeper-30444369/ This is the other: https://www.ikea.com/bh/en/p/mjoelkklocka-ergonomic-pillow-side-back-sleeper-60446767/ (they don't stock it in the UK any more - I think) You're welcome to both/either (free). We were going to post them on Freecycle as we're moving and downsizing.
    • I'm looking for a comfortable double (no spring) mattress, a duvet and pillows in good condition. Please get in touch if you have any of these things! 🙂
    • We are talking Sunday not Saturday! Is Saray the one opposite Brockwell Park? Think it is - always quiet when we have been there but we eat early - forgot that one. Thanks. Food was ok not bad not good but staff are nice - that was six  months ago. Ohh excellent as you are a veggie too.. Will check out Dai Due Fratelli - thanks. No Thai I am referring too is up a few shops from Oxfam Book Shop…
    • I think the Italian you are talking about was the old pizza place which is now closed and chicken shop in it's place? There is a nice Thai restaurant called Chern Thai on Grove Vale that should be open at lunchtime Saturday. I am veggie too btw. Peachy Goat in Herne Hill is good, but depends on the ask as it's kinda burgers and pasta and not the cheapest. I tried the Turkish in Herne Hill, Saray, round the corner Saturday before last and will be quiet but the owner is super sweet and it's not expensive. If you are happy with pizza / pasta, you could also do Dai Due Fratelli which is good food, friendly and attentive service at good prices on Lordship Lane.
