gjtango
Why are there so few runners in the South London area? I've been running regulary for around 5 years now, twice a week for around an hour a time. I often run at various differenthours in the week including what one would think of as being 'peak-hours' e.g. those when the bulk of people have finished work, across various different routes encompassing large parts of Dulwich, East Dulwich, Denmark Hill, Peckham, New Cross, Greenwich etc.Amazes me how few people I see out and about, yet the amount of slobs I see on my runs usually vastly outnumbers those trying to keep fit.Where are all the runners?! Giacomelli
The zumba classes are just too good in East Dulwich.Keep dancing Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24166-runners-lack-of/#findComment-555702 Share on other sites

Help-Ma-Boab
They only appear once a year (bit like those black flying ant things) round these parts. I'd say July 21st, around 3pm this year. Don't know why. Just a hunch... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24166-runners-lack-of/#findComment-555720 Share on other sites

Jeremy
I've not been running for a couple of months (knees can't take the punishment), but my usual route is/was around Peckham Rye on a combination of grass, paths, and pavement. Lots of people running and jogging on the weekends, and in the evenings too during the lighter months. Alan Medic
Who are these slobs? Would you describe one? I'd like to avoid if at all possible as they don't sound nice.I am not a runner as I think it looks boring and if there is a point to it, it's beyond my understanding. I suppose each to their own. I've done plenty of pointless things in my time, this being just one of them. bon3yard
I'm with the slobs, they have a refreshing lack of self entitled arrogance and superiority. Plus they get to eat kebabs after 11pm without the overwhelming sense of neurotic self loathing that the hollow cheeked fitsters would suffer after such a repaste. Just saying. minder
Yes, go to Clapham Common or Peckham Rye, where there's loads of Runners. It often amazes me too how the Runners even have to Run on the spot when stopping somewhere like a zebra crossing or pedestrian crossing. angehouse
Hi Riccardo, I was looking for a zumba class in ED aerea and could not make my mind up which one to choose! Do you have any recommendations? Thanks Anna Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24166-runners-lack-of/#findComment-574123 Share on other sites
KidKruger
yeah the running on the spot thing is funny, like these guys are going to 'cool-down' enough to do themselves an injury, running a 10 min mile is virtually a walk anyway. Voyageur
Running sucks - for me anyway. It does nowt for your knee joints and if you are well endowed it looks ungainly and feels darned uncomfortable.I walk briskly for 3 miles a day to keep fit - suits me down to the ground :D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/24166-runners-lack-of/#findComment-574130 Share on other sites
Earl Aelfheah
Dulwich Park usually has lots of runners in the evening.BTW, the jogging on the spot thing is just about keeping up momentum. Sometimes, if you stop, it can be quite difficult to get started again (at least for me that is).
