I can also highly recommend Paul. We had two couches which were too big to safely get down the stairs and out of my flat(they were here when I arrived). Paul literally had to cut them up and break them down so they could be removed in smaller pieces. It was a really tough job , but Paul made light work of it and took away all the bits. Very nice guy, arrived on time and did a great job. Many thanks Paul.

Had Paul around on Saturday to take a heap of stuff away for me. He?s so lovely and did a fab job! He?s so reasonably priced compared to others and I shopped around a lot. Getting him back next week for other bits we?ve found. Thanks again Paul!

Just recommending Paul - he came round at short notice and took away all the rotten decking in our garden (whilst maintaining social distancing) for a reasonable price. Whilst he was at it he also noticed some bin bags on the street that had been split overnight and cleared those up too.
Another cracking review for Paul. Second to none service. Being a landscaper, I have used several different waste removal guys and Paul from Knight&Sons is by far the best. Lovely guy, charming, nothing is too much and a very fair price. Highly recommend!
Once again a quick and hassle free collection from Paul and his team. He cleared garden waste for me at a fraction of the price of other companies. When I called he was around the corner and it was gone within 15 minutes. Going to keep him on speed dial for the rest of the lockdown house clearance :) Thanks guys, always brilliant!
Wanted to add yet another recommendation for Paul. We needed some junk and some cardboard boxes taking away. Paul came round really quickly and gave us a great price. He and his team were very friendly and efficient. We'd definitely use them again and would fully recommend them to anyone.
I would like to recommend a small company that I hired to move me from Homerton. When I called them for a quote, they recommended 4 hours for the whole job to be done even though it included dismantling and there were stairs involved. The move took exactly 4 hours.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
