Does anyone have a Samsung phone? How do you find it? Which model is the best value and do you find them user friendly? In short, are they any good? I dislike a product lacking competition - eg microsoft, iPhones, Tesco mozzarella etc. - and would love to give Samsung some Apple business if I could. Thanks for any info.

I got the S2 and love it, seemed a lot more user friendly than the Iphones that colleagues had and few of them have come over too. My boyfriend has the S3 now but to my mind it doesn't seem to offer anything that my S2 doesn't have.

The clincher for me when I was upgrading was that Iphones had more expensive deals because the phones were so desirable, with the samsung you could still access cheap priceplans.

Many thanks. I got a v cheap plan from iPhone as I was quoted it in error and they had to stick to it. Or so they said - maybe they tell everyone that to make people think it is a fab deal. When I renew though it will be painful hence the looking around. How do your colleagues find it? Unfortunately apple is quite good at what it does and I am not yet convinced Samsung is quite there yet.

Apple has a better eco system but no longer a top dog in handsets. Expect Android handsets to take a stride in performance over Apple in the near future. Sadly, people are bamboozled by marketing and this is reflected in Apple's sales figures and market share.

I have a galaxy S2 and Galaxy mini - much prefer the latter as the touch screen is more responsive and the layout it very slightly easier to navigate (believe it or not!).

I'm a Samsung fan, have tried other fones over the course of time but always come back to Samsung. I kinda see Samsung as Nokia when they were good. Many will disagree on that one but tis my own opinion :D

Best value for money at the moment is Samsung Galaxy SII. Once you done with it, you can upgrade to S3 or better ones, as not many good apps are there to benefit from quad core processing power.

Also I prefer the design of SII compare to S3 or HTC one X

Still if you need to keep up-to-date with Android, embrace the Google Nexus products

Fully agree on quad cores. The Samsung SIII has a Japanese version featuring a duo core and more RAM. I'd certainly choose the Japanese version over the UK model. But I also like the fact that the SIII has Gorilla glass 2 and Bluetooth 4 which is excellent for power management.

eta: This is mainly for the don't know betters who indulges in playground logic. Reason for choosing a dual core is better power management. Software also runs better on more RAM.

    • Hey fellow cat owners! Was hoping that you would consider putting collars with bells on your outside cats? I’ve wee fledglings in a nest and at the moment I’m defending them against an orange and white dude (I call him Trump) and his nemesis, a lovely Tuxedo cat (I call Elon)… they are quite the double act in my back garden!!!! It would give the wee ones a bit of a better chance if a bell could announce their approach. And as a feline owner myself, I know cats will be cats, but every little helps even the odds. many thanks.

    • Whilst I agree, I have been thinking about this recently in relation to some of the other posts on here about anti social behaviour. We are all products of our upbringing - our experiences at home, school and beyond - plus whatever we have inherited genetically which might affect our behaviour (the nature/nurture thing). So in this case, if people haven't been brought up to love and appreciate trees and other wild things, plus as you say they may be deeply unhappy (or have other undiagnosed issues) it's easy to see how they could have ended up doing this. Also, it's possible they had quite low intelligence and didn't really grasp what they were doing and the effect it would have on so many other people. But that's just surmise and possibly completely wrong. From what I've read about it, they seemed to be two mates egging each other on, like two big kids. I'm not for a minute excusing what they did, and it's right they should be punished, but I really hope they might get some sort of rehabilitation in prison (it would  be appropriate to have them do some kind of community service like planting saplings, wouldn't it, or working in woodland conservation). And the same goes for phone robbers and shoplifters (rehabilitation, not planting saplings), though for SOME  shoplifters there might also be other issues at play, not excluding poverty. Sorry Jasonlondon,  I've gone off at a real tangent here, lucky it's in the lounge! Oh oops I've just noticed it isn't. Sorry admin. Oh, and then there's a whole philosophical discussion to be had about free will and determinism ..... 🤣🤣🤣
