Roofer recommendation, Jan 2020, Russell Perring

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I would like to post a recommendation for Russell Perring, who has just sorted a long-standing leak in our Nunhead roof that several others had fail to resolve. Russell came and had an initial look the day I after I rang him, and seemed very professional and knowledgeable. He always called me back every time I rang or texted, explained everything and was just really helpful and a very nice guy.

When he came to do the work, he arrived with a SWAT team, who worked nonstop and did the job in 2 days (rain was due). He removed a badly built parapet, replaced a velux, fixed problems with another and replaced a flat roof... Amazingly efficient and really good neat job. Leak gone, job sorted! Work guaranteed for 10 years

He sorts the scaffolding too.

So a huge thumbs up for Russell. A genuine pleasure to deal with.

His mobile is 07852 972052

Thanks

I looked for Russell's name on the Forum just now, and Boddle's dilemma appeared. I'm in exactly the same situation. Russell did a brilliant job on my roof a few years ago, and now I have a loose slate (or two) Perhaps he's just too busy......

Your first post on this forum, and you are commenting on a thread whose last post was four months ago?

Russell Perring is very reasonably priced in my experience, and I find it very hard to believe that he would overcharge anybody.

What other thread "mentions overcharging from him"? He has always been very highly recommended on this forum. Perhaps you could provide a link to this thread, which you refer to but say you "didn't see"?

In any case, price isn't everything. Reliability and competence are rather important too 🙂 There is a difference between a fair price for a job done well and "overcharging". Also, Russell guarantees his work.

Why did you use him if you thought his quote was too high?

ETA: Are you a competitor, by any chance? I have a suspicious mind I know, but ....

I will be happy (but surprised) to be proved wrong!

I just wanted to add my recommendation for Russell. He recently managed to solve a problem on my roof that two other roofers were unable to (one of whom had done work that Russell said was completely unnecessary and made the problem worse). I found him to be honest and reliable and incredibly reasonably priced. I would have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone and he will definitely be my go to person from now on should I have any other roof issues.

    • Well you are complaining about road users who cause 0% of deaths and 2% of injuries on London roads. If you were genuinely worried about road safety you would post more consistently with the relative risk. Do you post 50 posts about car drivers breaking the rules, jumping red lights, driving on pavements, not stopping for pedestrians at junctions- for every one you whine about cyclists? If so you have my respect.    Didn’t she move to Essex so she could run down children cycling to school without the middle class “man” getting on her back?
    • Tessa J GP. LOL You can not even book an advance appointment.  You can only get one on the actual day if you win the lottery and get through before all the alloted call backs are taken.  Not even an actual appointment a telephone screening call.   So you don't actually get to see a GP. The app is always down.  If you work and can not use your phone how do you get a call back????? You can't even go sick for the day because there is very little chance of securing a call back. We didn't ask for a reduction in NI and I don't think most of us really minded paying it.  Why cut NI when the system obviously needs some investment.  Even if this means that and I can't believe I am saying it. Even if that means that there is more auditing and inspection of how the monies are being used.     Previously the staff from the Pharmacy practically carried me upstairs and begged the staff to get a GP to help me.  They refused even though it was obvious I was very ill.  I had to take myself to AnE at Kings where they saw me within 30 minutes even though the were very busy.  All I needed was antibiotics for a chest infection which was untreated as I could not get an appointment with the GP.  I had been really ill for a few weeks.  I would have. Probably ended up being admitted if I hadn't got to AnE that evening.  The staff at the pharmacy where really supportive and worried about me.  They even asked me to call them when I could because they wanted to know that I got some help.
    • Just had a delivery from Malabar Feast  (in Maxted Road where the Ganapati takeaway used to be). It was absolutely delicious, really well cooked,  very generous portions, reasonably priced and very speedy delivery (via Deliveroo but there are other options). Very highly recommended and we shall certainly be ordering from there again!
