Disgusted to see the Dulwich Bakery on Parkhall rd open for business today, why are they not taking this lockdown seriously? People are losing their lives.

There is a sign in the window saying they are a 'takeaway service only'but that's all they are anyway, they have one small breakfast bar, they are not a table and chair eaterie, they are not a supermarket, they are not an essential service.

Are they that selfish & irresponsible where they ignore the lockdown because they want to stay open?

Are there any other shops you've seen open who shouldn't be? Seriously thinking people should boycott those shops in the future when this settles down for not following the Governments instructions which are in place to try and protect us all.

Brixton Cycles are open. Up in town, Look Mum No Hands has the workshop open but the cafe closed (completely closed, not even doing taekaways).

The Evans down at Goose Green is closed. They're owned (indirectly) by Sports Direct who initially said they'd be keeping everything open and then had to go back on that following something of a backlash on social media. But that was before the advice about bike shops so they might try and open some of the Evans stores up again.

Some shops are offering discount / free servicing for key workers and selling basic spares (ie no customers in the shop for browsing). I think if you need your bike repairing or need an part urgently so you can keep riding to work as a key worker, that's fine - if you're going in to look at the latest shiny things, that's not fine!

Some people are enjoying this all just a little too much...getting their rocks off condemning others as irresponsible. We need to learn to live with the fact that other people are making different judgements of the rules and the risks. That's what you'd expect in a non-fascist, mature society.

I noticed yesterday that Gails in Dulwich Village were open with queuing outside and selling bread and takeaway coffee

I think they were allowing 1 person at a time inside.

Today whilst on my morning excersise I was desperate for a takeaway coffee and I must confess was pretty damn gutted when approaching the shop at around 11am seeing a sign on the door saying they were closed until further notice and staff with face masks cleaning.

I dont even like Gails (I avoid chains wherever possible)but it was an any port in a storm moment.

Funny the things we miss and at the moment its takeaway coffee (we dont drink coffee at home dont know why its a foible of ours)I guess I should save the ?3 a day I'm not spending on it and put it in a jar to give to charity when all this is over.

Got an email from Halfords today and they're staying open for the time being at least.

I'm on the mailing list of HaveBike in Camberwell, they say they're allowed to stay open so that key workers can use/get their bikes fixed. They also do a 'collect and return' service to your home so you don't have to visit them. Haven't ever used them though, I get the emails because they were doing free bike checks in Brockwell Park years ago

    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
    • Can’t imagine what it must be like you have your doorbell rung harshly.
