What a lovely community spirited road you live in. I'll do something for them too next week. They come too early for me to thank them in person, being an owl not a lark!

We have a sign up thanking our bin men and this week when they were collecting my 2.5yr old son stood at the window and waved, as did another small child on our street. Not only did the bin men ignore my son (they looked straight at him, so didn?t just overlook him) they thought it appropriate to give each other the middle finger as they went about their work. I appreciate they are working in difficult circumstances but I don?t think there?s any justification for that sort of behaviour.

    • 22 Upland Road - next to Eric’s. Another recommendation for this cute cafe. The coffee is excellent and the owner very friendly and helpful.
    • There’s usually free parking on Saint Francis Road as well. Permit only until 1pm.
    • PUSH Studios is a well appointed dance/fitness studio off Lordship Lane on Blackwater Street. A Tuesday evening slot at 8pm has become available for rental for any instructors looking to hold pilates/yoga/ballet/dance/wellbeing classes. Our hire rate is £30/hour and includes equipment (mat/yoga blocks/mini balls/weights etc) plus introductory mention in our newsletter. For more information contact Carolyn at [email protected] or visit us at www.pushstudios.co.uk
    • It is a bit (and unnecessarily maddeningly) complicated because you have to choose a type of swim (lane/over 60/men only etc. and even which speed you’d like to swim at), so I sympathise. I have no idea why Southwark won’t repeal these rather daft restrictions or at least some of them and just have most of the day as open swimming (with one lane always roped off for those who want to do lengths).
