Bit embarrassing for those caught on camera in Daily Mail as I'm sure their silhouettes are recognisable to their friends and family. There is a general lack of common sense but nothing quite beats the two women I saw outside M&S recently who kept minimum of 2 metres apart BUT both lovingly cuddled the same dog (I'm sure there was also some dog tongue involved as well).

The Mail story is portraying this as Lockdown End however not as a bad thing.

"Hancock welcomes return to work and says businesses that are reopening never needed to close: Traffic returns to London's A40 as 10 per cent more cars hit the roads, while huge queues form outside burger chain"

Hancock possible quote in Mail tomorrow

"there never was a lockdown"

Well said. "But I'm entitled to have my ice cream/burgers/coffee, I don't care if people have to walk in the road to get around me. Me, me, me, me that's all I care about. Stuff the rest of you".

Every day for the last few weeks ,on TV in newspapers 100 s of people dying every day .yet all these pricks still doing what they want.walking running in groups sunbathing in parks strolling down the lane with their essential cup of coffee .taking selfies stopping on the pavement to talk to other people.blocking the way .if this is a lockdown what a fcuking joke .take these jackasses down the morgues ,and give them a taste of reality .

I am clearly living in another planet. Well a different planet to much of SE22. As what I see on the fringes of SE22, SE23, SE4, SE10 and the like are people behaving themselves, people being courteous, making way, smiling, clapping the front line workers etc etc. The odd annoying person on their phone oblivious or doubling back in the supermarket isle, a few arses driving at 60mph, no doubt a few journeys that are unnecessary and people not living together socialising, mainly at a distance. But not masses.

Can somebody explain if things are really that different as you travel towards Goose Green. Are there hordes of entitled people taking the P?

That's a serious question as I am just not seeing it in my area and on my daily exercise.

Malumbu I didn't say people were misbehaving .its just the sheer number of people on the street.its not just dulwich its all over the country check today's papers .numbers are up in parks beaches .more traffic on the roads .OK the weathers not helping .this virus is killing people of all ages ,people could have it and have no symptoms yet still infect other people ,why take a chance.you say you exercise every day what time of day do you come out.early morning between 5am 7am streets parks pretty clear .8am onwards hundreds of more people every where and not just shopping.if people want to somehow get back to normal, stop taking the piss .its good clapping for the hardworking NHS .but that's not going to help save life's .its been a few weeks not years what's so hard about that .other countries had complete lockdown for months.and abided by the rules.and even if you are on a different planet . I bet even you have seen this message stay home save lives protect the NHS ☺

LOL it's not me although I worked in the newspaper industry once (in IT)

When the riots were on I was tempted to take a few photos when I was wandering around but I don't think it would have gone down well with the crowd that were out and about :)

So we have a government that has to balance economics, personal liberties, civil unrest, caring responsibilities and general quality of life whilst ensuring that the transmission rate remains at less than one. There are shots of a couple of dozen people surfing at Scarborough. They may be thinking 'this is my daily permitted exercise', 'I'm not going to catch Covid 19 in sea water', 'I'm socially distancing', The second two may be valid. I could join them, if I was prepared to drive to Scarborough, learn to surf, find somewhere to stay, by a wet or dry suit. Which I'm not.

Our beaches remain generally empty. Yet there are people who rage on about this, and use pretty emotive language. I'm still struggling to work out why and how this helps the situation. Now if there were 100s of surfers on Scarborough beach I expect the copes would be there PDQ.

So I am enraged. I've just been shopping on Forest Hill Road. And two twots in succession parked on the zig zags. I'd happily have the cars crushed to teach them a lesson. I was even brave enough to ask one of them not to park on zig zags.

Or I could start a thread on selfish pricks parking on zig zags and endangering life. I don't how this helps in the slightest. Some informed debates on why these selfish pricks do it, and how we can encourage otherwise through good citizenship or enforcement, and collectively influence the posers that be. is useful. And someone may say, 'get a life Malumbu, it is a tiny proportion of motorists'. I think the same applies to the current situation. Still dunno why there are a number of angry people on this site.

As mentioned in another thread on here (which I can't now find):

The Police arrived in a van all together and ordered. When the food was ready we delivered to their van. 3 uber drivers waiting for collection and some more passers by and someone waiting for a bus at the bus stop

    • The lack of affordable housing is down to Thatcher's promoting sale of council properties. When I was working, I had to deal with many families/older folk/ disabled folk in inferior housing. The worst ones were ex council properties purchased by their tenants  with a very high discount who then sold on for a profit. The new owners frequently rented out at exorbitant prices and failed to maintain the properties. I remember a gentleman who needed to be visited by a district nurse daily becoming very upset as he rented a room in an ex council flat and shared kitchen and bathroom with 6 other people  (it was a 3 bed flat) the landlord did not allow visitors to the flat and this gut was frightened he would be evicted if the nurse visited daily. Unfortunately, the guy was re admitted to hospital and ended up in a care home as he could not receive medical help at home.   Private developers  are not keen on providing a larger percentage of 'social housing' as it dents their profits. Also a social rent is still around £200 plus a week
    • Hello, I was wondering if others have had experience of roof repairs and guarantees. A while back, we had a water leak come through in our top floor room.  A roofer came and went out on the roof to take a look - they said it was to do with a leak near the chimney.   They did some rendering around the chimney and this cost £1800 plus £750 for scaffolding (so £2,550 total).  They said the work came with a 10 year guarantee. About a year later, there was another leak on the same wall, which looked exactly the same size and colour as the previous leak. But it was about 2 metres away from it, on the other side of a window.  I contacted the roofer about this new leak, thinking it would be covered by the guarantee. However, he said the new leak was due to a different and unrelated problem, and so was not covered by the guarantee. This new leak, he said, was due to holes in the felt underneath the tiles. He said there are holes in the felt all over the roof (so if this was the cause, I expect the first leak may have been caused by that too - but he didn't mention the holes in the felt for the first repair). It feels like the 10-year guarantee doesn't mean much at all.  I realise that the guarantee couldn't cover all future problems with the roof, but where do you draw the line with what's reasonable?  Is it that a leak is only covered if an identical leak happens in exactly the same place?  There were no terms and conditions with the guarantee, which I didn't question at the time.
    • I always like Redemptions coffee though I've not visted for awhile..Romeo Jones was always my 1st choice for takeout Coffee Redemption 2nd. What IS with all these independent Yoga and Pilates Studios? Theres one on London Rd in Forest Hill (Mind) thats recently opened and then theres the Pilates place thats opened on North X Road. I looked at the prices of the one on NorthX road and was frankly shocked at how expensive it is, The FH one is slightly less.  Made me decide to stick with classes in The local authority gym
    • Dulwich Village update: The old DVillage location is (again?) under offer. The storefront next to the new grocer is going to open as a yoga and pilates studio...the name of which I've forgotten. 🤦‍♂️  Megan's is starting to push its takeaway coffee and cannibalise some of Redemption Coffee's market share. Is Megan's struggling? It's quite a big restaurant they have and rent cant be cheap. The reinventing of the Megan's branch on Lordship Lane as Ollie's seems to have stalled. And Redemption is looking a bit tired these days...
