Zucca on Bermondsey Street is very good.

Pizarro is excellent too, and while they don't usually take reservations, they have a couple of private rooms which I believe can be booked.

Elliot's Cafe in Borough Market is decent, and a bit more modestly priced. I've also heard very good things about Applebee's (also in Borough Market), but I've not been personally.

Bit of a curve-ball perhaps, but I really liked Tito's Peruvian restaurant (although my wife was rather unimpressed).

You could try Guiseppes. I was taken there for one of my birthday celebrations mid-week and it was absolutely packed. Food portions too big for me but everyone else devoured everything in sight with gusto! Excellent pub inexpensive drinks upstairs.

PR took me to this restaurant and I can second that the food was amazing..... :)

    • It’s a flat fee levy payable by guests staying in hotel and hostel rooms, so added to the bill.  This already happens in Manchester and Liverpool ( I think in Liverpool it’s a percentage, so the more expensive rooms pay more). I read somewhere that Edinburgh is doing this next year? Charges of this kind are becoming common around the world. I think it absolutely makes sense for Southwark and other boroughs are bound to follow.
