Just curious as to what people are thinking / doing re summer holidays.

Now Europe is opening up again, flights running, airports open, even France quarantine is optional, but UK still advises against non-essential travel and as such any travel insurance would be invalidated.

What's it like at airports?

Do you need to justify essential travel?

We've just taken the decision to cancel our hols in France despite everything easing on the continent, solely due to UK government guidance. We are relaxed about COVID-19 but less so about what happens if whilst abroad it all kicks off again. Or how locals in France may react as we are loading the supermarket trolleys full of cheap beer and wine.

Keen to hear anyone's thoughts as we have flip flopped back and forth with how we feel about everything.

I should be sitting next to my favourite Italian lake now, but sadly it all went up in Covid smoke. I'm actually quite relieved, as well as sad to miss seeing friends, as I would not want to import anything nasty and I think we all need to take a measured approach to easing the restrictions and put the health and welfare of the wider community first. Hopefully it will not be too long before we can return to our favourite places.
Waiting to see what happens as our travel to France and accommodation was all booked pre-covid. The campsite is open, remains to be seen if UK lifts its travel advisory or if we can get on the train still. Assuming we have a low chance of catching or spreading it as we had it in March/April. Unless/until cancelled can't book alternative in UK, which might mean we're too late.

Yeah but that's completely missing the point.

People travelling around WILL spread it, whether or not the country they're coming from is worse affected than UK.

Oh yes - but Kay just likes being an awkward interviewer these days and to be fair it gets you viewing her.

It does sometimes expose that something hasn't been thought through or that the interviewee is just following rules and doesn't understand what they are saying.

    • What jab?  I had them many years ago to little or no effect.  I never went for the allergy testing where they jab you with various pollens to work out what sets you off.   Rely of tablets nowadays, so much better than the old days of piriton which sent me to sleep. June use to be hell from mid teens.
