Moflo
I recently booked a flight to Glasgow, circumstances are that my husband can't travel so I asked a friend to accompany me! Called easyjet to cost the change of name! Now bear in mind the cost of two seats return to Glasgow ?147.00! How much is it to change a passenger name? I ask. Reply ?35 each way then ?83.00 for the difference in price total?153.00. How can you charge me for difference in a price I have already paid I asked? Company Policy was the short reply! this is extortion and immoral in my eyes, am I wrong? silverfox
I've never flown Easy Jet and hopefully never will. However, the revised fare is probably still cheaper than travelling by train, although given check in times hours before your flights probably no quicker.O'Leary is a scoundrel but he has opened up air travel for the masses Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25566-easyjet-money-grabbers/#findComment-576075 Share on other sites
Moflo
The price for single ticket in may was ?70 return and that the price I paid, price now is ?150+ but I'mNot cancelling and rebooking I'm asking them to change a name of existing booking! Why should I pay again for seething I've already paid for! Standard practice or not, it's immoral! KidKruger
The whole name change thing is a cynical rip-off, while I understand there's a tiny amount of admin involved and there may be an argument for a small charge for that, there's no real reason to apply other penalties such as this. Michael Palaeologus
Welcome to the world of cheap carriers. The flights are cheap (as long as you book in advance) but any and all additional services or changes are expensive.Thats their business model. It can be annoying when plans change BUT most of the time they dont, so most of the time you get from A to B at a cheap price. The alternative are the main line carriers. BA fly to Glasgow, having booked, you can make changes and amendments at a smaller or no fee. You will have probably paid more for your ticket though.Easyjet do at least treat you as a human being. Ryanair dont. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25566-easyjet-money-grabbers/#findComment-576089 Share on other sites

silverfox
It's time we sacked the regulators and sent in some real rotweillers to clean up the industry.Earlier this year I booked two return tickets to Ireland. The advertised rate was ?70 return (no doubt with a number of asterisks and footnote numbers following the stated price). By the time I ticked all the boxes for seats and two bags the final figure was ?246.98.Now while I consider ?124 each still good value for a return flight to Ireland the fact is is is nearly ?55 per person dearer than the headline price.Your ReceiptTicket Numbers ************* Issue Date XXXXXDetails Fare p.p. the-e-dealer
Its how it works. The prices are low because they have very limited back office staff. Pay more get a friendlier more flexible service. Or avoid these people and Ryan Air too. BrandNewGuy
Charging for name-changing is part of the price you pay for cheap fares. Otherwise an enterprising punter could just buy up bargain discount seats and attempt to sell them on later. Putting a name to each bargain seat ensures that doesn't happen. And in my experience Easyjet can be frustrating (online check-in and bag drop is no such thing - you still have to go through the long bloody queue), but Ryanair are a nightmare. silverfox
You miss the point the-e-dealer - the prices aren't low they are misleading. The published prices should be realistic. Look at the breakdown above. The presumption should be that most travellers will want to book a suitcase/bag onto the flight and advertise the prices accordingly. Discounts can then be applied for those who don't want to put a bag in the hold.I can see the attraction of these cheap airlines to students who can fly at any time with a toothbrush in their pocket. For most people the add-on charges make a mockery of the airlines' claims to be cheap, competitive carriers. silverfox
the-e-dealer, you may have the luxury of time that allows you to flick between various schedules using new tabs everytime.Show me one clear example that shows the price of a return flight with all taxes included, with a booked seat and a case/sitcase of the permitted weight booked into the hold. silverfox
Loz, it was with Aer Lingus. The online booking form asked questions such as do you wish to have a designated seat (or sit anywhere). As two of us were flying it would be nice to sit together. Did I want to book a bag on to the flight. I do not remember a fee being clearly stated at each point nor a cumulative subtotal being visible as I ticked each box although I do remember being referred to different links for further information about baggage charges/allowances (which is the point I'm trying to make to the e-dealer).Can't remember exactly about the sms confirmation. the-e-dealer
I was asking. If they dont publish the prices then this is bad. I don't have the time to fool around with EasyJet. And don't intend to do an investigation of their website now. Ask Ann Robinson.
