Brilliant, so jumped up public schoolboy behaving to type is unconscionable, but being directly complicit in the illegal invasion of a country resulting in at least 50,000 deaths and the indirectly to the worst ethnic cleansing since Rwanda because you couldn't even be bothered to find out if there was a plan beyond "we'll get rid of saddam and then everything will be great" is just quibbling about policies blah blah blah.

Fucks sake indeed!

So people have read all that from what I wrote in my post? No wonder ive given up

So for the record...

I share el pibes view of the iraq war

I don't think the sun shines out of labours arse

I thought my post chimed with much of what Michael p wrote in an earlier post but he seems to think otherwise

As I've already stated I've disagreed with plenty of what she has done in power. I don't "love" her and am not insisting that anyone even like her

If people focused on her record fair enough

The rest of this post I've deleted because it's not worth it

ohhh the irony, this is just gobsmaking...are you so BLIND edealer...or are you just completley unaware of her history?

Nope MM just bored of diggy posts that seem to boil down to I can't beleive I like people who don't think the Labour party is wonderful and belive the Guardian is a pile of shit

I fear that many (not all) of our politicians let us down, sacrificing what is best for their voters and their own morality for the needs of Party or, Cabinet unanimity. This is true across the political spectrum.

Having lived in a number of constituencies, I prefer to be represented by a back-bencher with independent attitude, rather than a nescessarily neutered front bencher.

It would seem that rank does not bring privelege, at least for those that vote.

That has NO relation to what I said at all. Interesting take tho.

Nothing I have posted on this thread as anything to do with labour at all. Or even party politics of any kind. Plenty of scope for heavy criticism of Tessa and her role in the Iraq war on this forum

But sometimes, when a new thread starts about a local mp (of any hue) stepping down, it's worth taking a broader view of not just the bad but the years of work for local constituents and leave the other stuff for other threads.

To have a couple of pages of "she doesn't live here" or "she didn't represent us" when clearly she did otherwise she wouldn't be reelected

It's not that I care about her particularly... I'm only standing up because she's connected to us locally, not because of what party she is in. But constant,y branding all politicians as just corrupt and useless is incorrect. As with James barber and his efforts to communicate with people on here, the abuse he sometimes gets is out of all proportion to the sometimes painful politicking he gets himself into. It's just too easy to ALWAYS see only the bad. Walk in their shoes for a year and ill be impressed

Why quids brought labour or the guardian into it as sticks to beat me with I have no idea

TJ will always have a very good chance of being re-elected because she is a party apparatchnik, a known quantity. So anyone who believes that the Labour party is the best one to form the Government will vote for her/her clone regardless. This is a perfectly valid point of view

Not holding this viewpoint, however, I do believe that it matters that she doesn't want to live here, and fobs us off with "family" reasons, believes we will believe in her "reconciliation". I was told that at least one of her children went to school in America, while she was telling us that she didn't want to leave them and come and live in Dulwich. If this is a scurrilous rumour, I will be glad to hear the denial it as I would like feel that politicians tell me the truth

Lynne

Oh really:

"... the couple went on to have two children of their own, Jessie - a schoolfriend of Ms Dynamite - and Matthew, a golf prodigy who attended an elite training academy in Florida."

Taken from:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/why-tessa-chose-her-job-over-her-marriage-468695.html

Does anyone know how long her son attended the training academy?

Does her daughter not count?

Would it be possible to form a government from backbench MPs whose only interest was their own constituency?

Can anyone posting on here name a single electable politician they feel meets all their requisite criteria?

Who'd be a politician?

    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertises times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
    • My memory, admittedly not very reliable these days, places the shop on the block on the left hand side just before Burgess Park going towards Camberwell. Have also found a reference to Franklins Antiques being located at 157 Camberwell Road which is on that block. This is a screen shot obtained from Google maps of that address which accords with my memory except the entrance door was on the right hand side, where the grey door is, rather than in the centre.
