James
Someone (or some people) keep dumping rubbish at the corner of our street. This is a total eyesore and really gets on my nerves!I guess some people are just ignorant and selfish. Does anyone have any idaes as to how I can put a stop to it (other than installing CCTV or patrolling the area 24 hours a day)? Gidget
Call the council's Environmental Health Dept. and report it every time. Perhaps they will put up a sign, which might help. It's ironic as the council does bulk rubbish collections for free........some people don't know that though. James
Thanks for this. Find it sad how people don't look after their own neighbourhood. They must live nearby so seems like s***ting on your own doorstep to me. KidKruger
if it's obviously personal waste, have a look through and when you get an address, call the council and dump the stuff in their front yard. Someone mentioned a few weeks ago that they'd found loads of cardboard packaging (from furniture or something) and found the address label on it !! Someone's from Dunstan's Rd I think. steveo
I just watched a bloke finish a tinned drink and put it on the pavement by a post not four feet from a tin disposal bin. I should have prevailed on him but I'm in no condition for a punch up just at the moment. Chillaxed
James,On the corner of Crawthew Grove and Frogley Road?It isn't ignorance, it's just selfishness. I am always amazed that someone who bothers to peel and cook veges, uses specialist surface cleaners, or whatever normal behavior is evidenced by the rubbish, is also inclined to furtively dump their rubbish in the middle of the night to the general detriment of the rest of us.Chillaxed Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25901-illegal-dumping-of-rubbish/#findComment-580807 Share on other sites
James Barber
I've contacted the head of waste collection and they'll try and track down the culprit. Not easy but fingers crossed. bawdy-nan
you can also do it online - report flytipping, I mean. One of my favourote Tessa Jowell memories was her turning up to and taking part in an anti-flytipping protest on the corner of Bawdale Road (in the olden days yesteryear of, ooh, 2003 maybe) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25901-illegal-dumping-of-rubbish/#findComment-581108 Share on other sites
Pugwash
When we were clearing out my in laws house, we contacted some waste removers who assured us that they were taking odd bits of furniture, old broken books etc to a licensed dump. A few weeks later we were sent a letter from Lambeth Environmental Team saying that they were taking us to court for dumping stuff on Peabody Hill. They had found some broken books with my father in laws name in them ( He had an unusual Polish name) and traced the house via council tax records. We rang them up and informed them what had happened and we still had the flyer of the waste removal firm with us. lambeth took the flyer, sorted out some' marked' rubbish, and contacted the waste disposal people and caught them in the act of dumping. char1ie
I had a local person who regularly dumped rubbish on the corner of my street. Each time I opened the bag and had a look for a name and address of something included in the rubbish. The fourth or fifth time I found a name of a guy round the corner. I went round with his rubbish, banged on his door and told him to stop dumping rubbish in my street. Weirdly, he had an immaculate green bin - totally spotless inside. It hasn't happened since.Charlie Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/25901-illegal-dumping-of-rubbish/#findComment-581662 Share on other sites
