macroban
I quite like the Bellenden Village metal bollards and think they would suit Lordship Lane very well.As Bellenden Village has now had its ten years of public subsidy perhaps we could now ask Southwark Council to move the bollards from SE15 to SE22. Marmora Man
Before bollards I'd prefer the council to invest in improved road surfaces and renew the paving on LL and elsewhere. Marmora Road is a patchwork of uneven tarmac fill ins and potholes - while the pavements are a nightmare to anyone pushing a buggy or a wheelchair, lumps bumps, potholes and worse. Broadly that situation pertains across all of East Dulwich. macroban
We could swap the East Dulwich potholes for the Bellenden Village bollards. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2592-bellenden-village-bollards/#findComment-78647 Share on other sites
Bellenden Belle
What a load of bollards! This is a continuous hobby horse of yours Macroban. It has been debated before - subsidy went to se15 because it was an area in need; personally I think there are far greater areas in need than SE22. Peckhamgatecrasher
You leave our bollards alone. Only piece of Anthony Gormley design in the south east. Stick yer Angels of the North, we love our phallic bollards. tommy
I heard that when proposed the council opposed the more phallic bollards, until Mr Gormley himself stepped in and funded the "offening" items - anyone know if this is true ?! RosieH
I don't know, but they definitely need to stay where they are. Even my rather prudish mother laughed at the fabulous bollards and their location on Bellend-en Road (are mums allowed to say stuff like that? freaked me right out) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2592-bellenden-village-bollards/#findComment-80443 Share on other sites
Nero
I like them too, but the Zandra Rhodes street lights on the parade of shops where The Green was (RIP) didn't do much to regenerate the area, did it? Nero
I said I liked them. I like pink. But they've not boosted the area. Nero Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2592-bellenden-village-bollards/#findComment-80453 Share on other sites
archic
The bollards look fab! I like unique pieces like that. Bellenden Village will remain unique with its ups and downs!David. tommy
Was pleasantly surprised when a few of the said bollards appeared at (I think) the Art London show a couple of years ago. All and sundry were fawning over them, whilst I thought they looked better outside Sam's Kebabs Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2592-bellenden-village-bollards/#findComment-185370 Share on other sites

I think the London Eye is a fabulous attraction and don't see why the South Bank should get all the attention - if this could be moved to Goose Green I think the area would really benefit. I don't really agree with pillaging neighbouring boroughs in order to make LL 'look nicer'. AllforNun
and maybe you could stick that idea where the sun rarely shines, How about we move onto to nunhead for a bit of regeneration. As for public subsidy LL and ED and had more than enough, 5mill upgrade to the sports centre just the latest. No doubt you will get your bollards as the lib executive take the taxes from se15 and pour them back into SE22 just to keep their seats.......the joy of a democracy. BigPhil
I thought bellenden rd was in SE15 , does it become SE22 further up? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/2592-bellenden-village-bollards/#findComment-186091 Share on other sites
AllforNun
no always SE15, but the area was earmarked for regen a long time ago when this forum used to take place at the old EDT with a strawdust floor and a cop car parked up outside!
