Does anyone know how to make a money transfer from UK account to a German account?

I've tried contacting the seller to clarify but won't respond to my emails and now has created a dispute with me. I do want the item but am struggling to see how to resolve this.

Anyone ever done this type of transfer before?

Can you not pay by Paypal or credit card?

If you want to transfer bank to bank then assuming you've got all the details including swift code then just call your bank to arrange a foreign transfer.

Hmmm yes well me being so presumptious than everyone does Paypal nowadays just lept in without checking.

I have all her bank details but the Shabbey wont do it for toffee... and I dont know why.... but you reckon it "should" be that easy?

I may try Shabbey again in that case......

You could try posting on one of their community forums. You may get some advice. If not ask ebay themselves for advice.If they are asking you to pay by nochex, I have done this before and although complicated is just as good as paypal. Good Luck!!!

Certainly ebay warn against giving out your bank detail. Remember that the seller also has your address!

Have they provided their bank details? If they have you can do a simple bank transfer (though it will cost you)

If you have their bank details (or IBAN number) you should be able to do a CHAPS transfer, although it costs about ?20.

The first thing you must do is respond to the ebay dispute. If you do not do this then the seller will be able to neg you and there is nothing you can do about it (i.e. you will not be able to neg back). Then you will be deemed to be a "non paying bidder" and your ebay status will be affected and you will most likely get negative feedback. So do it.

If your seller has not responded it may be that your email has been sent to his/her spam folder. This happens all the time and it is annoying. Frankly it is up to the individual to check their spam folder regularly but that doesn't always happen.

You should contact the seller again, this time via ebay. Go into one of that seller's current auctions and click on "ask seller a question". The seller will receive that e-mail. I guarantee it. Explain that your other e-mails have gone unanswered. If the seller does not have any current auctions then you can still send a message through ebay but the route to the link is not as clear cut.

Explain that you would like to pay through Paypal. You can pay by bank transfer if you call your bank to set it up but it will cost you about ?20 - ?30 depending on the amount of the transacton. You will have to go down this road if the seller won't accept Paypal so ask for Paypal first.

If you do make payment using Paypal then please - this is very important so listen up - ensure that you empty your Paypal account of any cash that might be in it and that the payment is made by credit card (albeit through Paypal). Making payment by credit card gives you extra protection in case the good do not turn up.

BTW - many ebay sellers talk all sorts of crap about "not being responsible in case of loss in the post". Not true. The seller is totally responsible. This is why you should pay by credit card through Paypal - if the goods do not arrive or they are not as described (e.g. they are fake) then you can open a dispute with Paypal and/or your credit card company and claw back the money.

Definitely respond to dispute, keep correspondence. Do they have good feeback 99%-100%? If so paypak or pay via credit card. If not look at comments and see if they concern you, if so contact ebay. Other options if no credit card or paypal, old fashioned international money order? Cheaper than international money transfer which is electronic. Chaps/Bacs tend to only work in the UK.

We had to transfer some money to a friend in Australia. Did it via the post office, but had to pay a charge (can't remember how much).

Ive done a fair few transactions with germans on ebay, and i can say that alot of them do not use paypal for ebay transactions.

The cheapest thing to do is ... go to the bank and ask for a relay payment it costs ?10, you need an iban and swift code, normally the seller will easily provide this to you.

Thanks Guys - I will drop her another email today. The Shabbey have now said they will do it for a ?25 charge .. if I wanted to pay that much in total I would have simply gone to the right shop instead of ebay. Final price was only 33 Euros.

I have 100% feedback from hundreds of transactions bought and sold and never had to endure this rubbish ... ho hum. Another lesson learnt.
