shaunag
Hi all.looking for some inspiration for a tested venue for my daughters birthday.really she loves being outside but I think it's too much of a gamble in the depths of winter-so would like somewhere where they can have a little run around, but where grown up visitors that don't have kids aren't overwhelmed with excited toddler noise? Would be very grateful to hear what others have done for parties at this time of year. Many thanks in advance. Fuschia
Try darrell rd community centre - it has an outdoor space so they could go out if not raining Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26540-venue-for-a-2-year-olds-birthday-party-in-january-ideas-please/#findComment-589513 Share on other sites

shaunag
Thanks Fuschia-will check it out. Have been to a few function rooms today-it all gets a bit pricey (we are contemPlating postponing till next year as it will be 18 years of parties once we get going! Just feel a bit mean about it.was sad to learn the mag is closing though-they are looking for someone to buy and will shut then. They are open in the interim so if you want one last visit I would go soon:( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26540-venue-for-a-2-year-olds-birthday-party-in-january-ideas-please/#findComment-589595 Share on other sites
ryedalema
Also the Albrighton Community Centre (other side of the road from Sainsburys on Dog Kennel Hill). Much newer and a big upstairs room with a kitchen and large outdoor playspace next to it - big enough for scooters, bikes, trikes etc and for kids to have a run around. They have (or used to have) a playgroup there on Saturday mornings, so they might still have ball pits etc you can borrow.. Strawbs
Albrighton community centre is reasonably priced and if you get a particular room there is a free bouncy castle.. Alternatively Peckham soft play is always an option as the kids are playing, noisy but effective.. For ?45 you get 45 mins soft play and then 45 mins upstairs for cake etc.. The second 45 mins did feel a little rushed but for our one year old it was the perfect amount of time x Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26540-venue-for-a-2-year-olds-birthday-party-in-january-ideas-please/#findComment-589677 Share on other sites
Coach Beth
Wildlife Garden Centre on Marsden Road - I used it as a venue for my little boy's third birthday party in February and it was great. Children can run around the gardens and adults can hang out in the information centre building where you can have party food, games, etc as well. You can only have parties there on Sunday's and don't have exclusive use of the gardens but it is fab. shaunag
Thanks for all of these suggestions which hadn't crossed my mind-will need to investigate and get off the fence! Renata Hamvas
Surrey Dock's Farm. There is a function room there for hire, and children can go and see and feed the animals. Also donkey rides can be arranged for slightly older children.Renata Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/26540-venue-for-a-2-year-olds-birthday-party-in-january-ideas-please/#findComment-590338 Share on other sites
James Barber
Farms and 2 years arent ideal mix from personal experience - getting them to thoroughly wash hands at every animal contact is a pain and bound to fail sometimes.Garden Wildlife garden centre worked a treat for us. Peckham softplay - I felt the need to clean it before our party as it was grubby back then. And at two they wont get that much from it. East Dulwich Community Centre on Darrell Road, and Albrighton I'm sure, have been super flexible and reaosnalby priced.Have a great party for them.
