Apologies if this is nothing new, but just though I'd post in an attempt to save folks' money. My car insurance renewal with More Than popped through the door the other day. As expected the premium had gone up a little and they had removed the 'free' breakdown cover. Monthly cost was to be ?50 and some pence. I played around online to see if it was time to change insurers and the best quote I got was from.......More Than! And to the tune of ?10 a month less (?124 overall) including breakdown cover. I've just phoned them to query this and been told (very honestly) that it is usually cheaper not to renew, but simply to start a new policy, which I have now done. And yes, all other cover was the same. So if others' renewals are due, its worth checking online with your existing insurer as well as other ones.

Ah man, I renewed my last month.

Another good tip I found was to try the sites that ask you what your lowest quote has been. Two years ago my best quote was ?850, I typed in ?750 and got a quote offer of ?749 and odd pence.

They also have a field for previous no claims bonus years - but I don't know if they take this into account when calculating the premium.

Best car insurance tip ?

Either dunmp the car and remove the cost entirely or downsize to a car that is a practical proposition for getting about, as opposed to a statement of how well you are doing / sophisticated you are how much of a big hit you are with the girlz

oh, and ratchet up your voluntary excess on the new policy

I'm really glad to hear that, I've just recently (last month)had my house and household contents insurance renewed by them and was really miffed to find that it had gone up by ?8 a month, is there anything I can do after the fact? I've never claimed in 15 years!
I have only just realised that it has gone up as have only just received the notice of payments, they didn't tell me it was going up just asked me if I wanted to renew it and then to do nothing and the payments would continue to be taken from my account as usual by Direct Debit

Is to run a classic car...Pre-1974 if you can, that way there is no road tax. Also, if you do limited miles, and if you're a commuting Londoner you're probably able to get away with maybe a 5000 mile policy, then you can get a classic insurance policy. For my three cars, (1959, 1974 & 1984) I paid ?160 fully comp last year.

Also, you'd be suprised at the availabilty of spares for some cars. Taking the MG B and the original mini for example, you can buy everything to build a car from new if you wish, and some people do!

Yeah, finding another insurance company can give you a lot less. Hitting on to affordable care insurance. This would not be the first time but it is where many people asking about renewing insurance or getting insurance, people are just who left it behind, doesn't understand or never had the chance the understand all about the policies and insurance company rules.

Could you translate this into English, please, kimquotes?

It doesn't make any sense at all to me.

    • There is no other way than to move out. I am in such a situation myself where our neighbours are complete assholes. They breached the Covenants and when we pointed it they said to take them to court if we want.  Unfortunately, they have made our life miserable and we have to move out.    What helped in our situation is having a calm conversation face to face. It only happened after they tasted their own medicine(i know it's mean but nothing else helps).   I know it's unfair but better move out and prioritise your mental health.
    • Thank you so much for the reply. Jeffery turned up a couple of hours ago. I edited title to say found but somehow it didn't save. Thank you so much for going to the trouble of posting this sighting... even if it didn't turn out to be Jeff.  Jeff came running down the street like a bat out of hell and ran into the house. Never been so relieved. Mind you i've been up and down the roads shouting his name out all day. Even in Wingfield street. 🤗
    • I saw a smallish black cat outside 1 Wingfield Street just now.  I am not convinced it was Jeff, the eyes look a little different.
