Hi Kathryn - and the rest of the ED Forum. We are chuffed that you are all watching our development in Landells Road with interest. Thought you might like to know the TV transmission date: Grand Designs, Channel 4, May 16th. Not sure we'll be finished but we're certainly pulling out all the stops to try and meet final filming deadline, which is in about 2 weeks time on April 24th/25th. The "Kev-ster" will be back for the final shoot so if EdNerd wants to bring his/her pen to site am sure we could ask the "dreamboat" to sign something for you. (Kevin apparently enjoyed reading the ED Forum immensely!)

Bill (the developer) is a very nice man and I'm sure we can arrange a guided tour for the EDF if anyone is interested - some bottles of decent sparkling stuff should gain you entrance. Let us know who wants to have a look around and we can try to sort out a date that suits most of you sometime in May.

Pls keep chattering - local feedback is v important to us. We are working hard to keep our neighbours informed and happy. Guess we'll know how successful we've been in this regard when we hear interviewees' comments on the programme. We are in suspense to hear EdNerd's views.

Seriously, if anyone has any questions about the houses do pls send us an email, we are v proud of them and happy to tell anyone/everyone all about the development. Price? Not sure yet. But we're still spending the bank's dosh and as the local estate agents have no idea how to price the houses lets say we're open to offers!

Hello Talisman

What a lovely offer from you to allow people to have a look around! I was allowed to go through and see the buildings from the outside a couple of weeks ago, but as work was still in full flow me and hubby would love to see the interior and find out more about the eco-friendly things you have installed. When I met Bill and his family they were indeed very nice. I have never watched a whole episode of Grand Designs but I will tune in on 16 May! We have been watching the latest going-ons and saw some huge bamboos being delivered last week. Are any other forumers interested in looking around?

Hi Chuff

I am back from my couple of days away and I have read the updated thread on what has been going on with your parking problems. As your neighbours have not come out waving a white flag yet, you can be an honourary 'neighbour' of Landells Rd (where I live) and that means you can be nosey about the eco-houses here!

Its funny how neighboury relations go. It sounds like you have never been welcomed into the little clique on your road. I know my neighbours and talk to them and I know I am very lucky. These eco-houses - before a business was being run out of the site and I think the noise of business going-ons may have bothered some people. But when the construction work started, you would think the noise of building work would really have irritated people but the impact was lessened because the building people made a effort to pre-warn people and give an update after a few months. I live on the other side of the road and a few houses down, so it will be interesting to hear what the more immediate neighbours have made of it all.

Did anyone see tonight's Grand Designs episode? It was a recap of an old project, a couple building a 'bungalow' in a narrow strip of land in 'South London'. That road looked familiar - was it Consort Road in SE15? Before long we'll be able to do a local tour of Grand Designs projects. Tonight's ended up as a fabulous home by the way.

Turns out it is in Consort Road after all. The address is actually 15-and-a-half Consort Road. If you are into dancing the tango, you can go there for lessons since the owner is a dance teacher and has a studio at the front of the house. The alternative venue for tango is apparently Thomas More Hall on LL. No contest.

Hi Forumers - looks like about half a dozen of you would like to come for a look round the houses (Mr and Mrs Nutty, Lousiana, Chuff, Ko, EDNerd and I think it was Kathyrn who raised the request initially).

We would be delighted to give you all, and any others, the "full tour" but right now we really are frantic as we aim to complete one house for the Grand Designs' final shoot next week. (In fact, if anyone is accomplished with a paintbrush, spade, screwdriver, brewing tea, etc etc....it's all-hands-on-deck now for the final "volunteers" weekend!)

We are, hopefully, aiming to complete in early/mid-May so I will post a suggested "tour" date on the forum asap and we can juggle diaries to try and accommodate as many of you as possible. Pls. could you let me know whether you prefer an early evening slot or a weekend - or if you around during the daytime on weekdays? We are pretty flexible anytime to suit.

The arrival of the huge palm trees this morning caused quite a stir in Landells - not least the 6 foot daddy which took 10 men to man-handle it into position including building a special ramp. It looks brill tonight floodlit with energy-efficient LEDs. Solar panels will go up on to to the bio-diversity roofs in the next few days - one of which has a bird sanctuary created on top! So much to tell you and so little time tonight as need to get online to order more eco paint.

Hi Talisman

I'm fine with weekdays, and am around during the day, but I'm sure most others are not. From my perspective, weekend is probably better, as Mr Louisiana can then be here, and he is a massive Grand Designs fan.

Maybe I can send Mr L round for a few hours on Saturday? He's a dab hand around the house and with tools (unlike me), has installed kitchens etc.

Louisiana

Hi Talisman,

As a late arriver to this thread, I wonder if there's still room for another addition to the tour?

Mrs Marauder and I are big fans of Grand Designs (and eco-buildings in particular) so would love to come if you can fit us in too...

All the best for getting it all finished in time for end of filming!

BM

My neighbour is also interested in coming along as he is quite interested in the environmental side. I really want to see the underground water collection tanks although Mr Ko told me that we probably wouldn't be able to see it - silly me! Evening/weekend would be best.

The 6 foot palm was amazing. I shouted to Bill from my window saying how I loved it - I want one now!!!!

    • Good luck with this - there have been several requests over the years by students needing to do infant observations.  I was lucky when I did mine  - way back in 1994 at a local nursery. Have you tried contacting the NCT to see if there are any local groups who would be willing to participate? As a mother of 2 - found the observation very informative - mine was a 2 year old child as my course stated a child under 3. Got my highest grade for this project so was very happy.
    • Happy birthday! I've just read a bunch of your reviews and really enjoyed it. You write Interestingly without being too ornate, and you manage to give a really good insight into the "vibe" of a place as well as the food. Totally agree with your review of Rocca - it's simple, great food in a friendly atmosphere at a completely reasonable price, esp considering the location.
    • Hello,  I am a 52-year old mother and an integrative counsellor who lives and works in West Dulwich, SE21. In mid January I am starting a new training in Parent Infant Psychotherapy (helping parents to bond with their babies), and a key component of the course is a 24-month infant observation.  I’m looking for someone who will be giving birth ideally in January or February and who would allow me to observe their baby for one hour a week until the baby’s second birthday. The baby can be awake or asleep, playing, feeding, eating or interacting with carer/s and family members - whatever they normally do at that time.  The purpose of the observation is to enable me to gain a thorough knowledge of very early infant development and to develop the capacity to maintain an observationally minded and non-judgemental attitude in my work as an infant-parent psychotherapist.  I will provide enhanced DBS clearance and I’m happy to answer any questions.  Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested, email me at [email protected] or call me on 07949716043. I would be extremely grateful for any leads. Many thanks,  Millie  Millie Burton, MBACP Integrative Counsellor [email protected] millieburton.com
    • I keep my promises...had the Sweet & Sour Chicken.  It was great - the best sweet and sour dish I've ever had. The chicken itself was good and the sauce seemed home made with real vegetables and pineapple - it is NOT the red sugar sauce goo you get elsewhere.  The Korean fried chicken was very good but the sweet chili sauce was much more chili than sweet - just far too spicy for me. There is a honey something sauce that I will get next time. Egg fried veggie rice was good as a side.  We also ordered the chicken katsu curry which was polished off so quickly I didn't get to taste it. It looked very good tho. SD is not like Magic Wok used to be - cheap and filling but junk food. (Don't get me wrong - I went often to Magic Wok). SD's food is much higher quality, real ingredients, chunky portions, freshly prepared. I'll be back, for sure.
