Nonsense they should not be il be reporting this.

Other freecycles are closed ain't walk locally for alot buy on here.

Fact admin close for sale u breaking lockdown. Only month u can wait sell rather risk catch or give covid.

Not supposed have anyone in home unless urgent repair buying non essential items ain't urgent.

I tried reading this backward and it still didn?t make much sense..

Go to Sydenham Retail Park and you?ll probably have the afternoon of your life reporting all the shops which are accepting faulty goods/ returns/ exchanges etc.. Once you are done do feel free to drop by any of the local play parks and you might be forgiven for thinking you are at Glastonbury as most of them are rammed..

I guess what I?m trying to say is, let?s keep some perspective here: wearing mask at all times outdoors, washing hands and maintaining as much distance as possible outdoors is probably as safe as the herd is ever going to get...

The last lockdown had completely different rules as well you know.

Every single shop in the area is doing click and collect or some kind of delivery. How on earth is classifieds any different? Even slightly? Commerce has not been shut down so you have no valid argument at all.

I am a PhD biomedical scientist. You are failing to understand why freecycle is barely a risk.

Fomite (particles of viridae on things)contamination does not appear to be the main route of transmission. The main issue is airborne microparticles which behave like cigarette smoke; they accumulate in enclosed spaces.

If you DO touch something that could have viral particles on it, simply wash your hands. The virus cannot get through your skin. It can only get in via mucous membranes (eyes, nose, mouth). This is why wearing a mask is so important.

Freegle & Freecycle are both open & I have given away items to people that are struggling & need help. There are lots of different items that are listed on this site & there isn?t any need for people to enter properties to collect them.

Click and collect was also allowed during the last lockdown, wasn't it? Certainly Shannon's Garden Centre, for example, had a very good system going.

I'm guessing many places just hadn't got up to speed with it.

So possibly last time forum admin overreacted.

I'm now trusting people to be aware of the risks, follow guidelines (and the law) and take precautions.

Previously there was less clarity on the situation and so we erred on the side of caution, aka "overreacted".

It's a very difficult decision to call, taking everything into account.

I received this email from Lambeth Freecycle dated 11 November:

Dear members,

Following further considerations about the current situation, the Lambeth Freecycle group has decided to allow posts where social distancing can be observed.

We expect however that ALL members respect the following requirements:

ALL posts must state and guarantee that social distancing regulations are possible during collection.

Always leave the item in a safe area out of the property to avoid contact.

Only offer or accept an item if social distancing is guaranteed during collection.

Always wear a mask and wash your hands.

ALL items shall be Sanitised before and after collection.

ALL items must be dismantled for easy transport.

Avoid long journeys and the use of public transports to collect an item.

Only collect if you are able to use your own car or can collect on foot or by bike.

We are not going to accept:

Posts that don't state and guarantee that social distancing regulations are possible during collection

Posts that offer bulky or particularly heavy items that require extra aid to be transported out of the property.

Posts that offer items that need to be taken down the stairs of a property or building.

Thank you for using Freecycle.

It isn't about "pleasing everyone"!!!

It's about doing your best to keep people safe during a pandemic where this country has the highest death rate in Europe!

My hubby collected a bed on behalf of someone on this forum and yes it was urgent - if my mobile phone broke, personally that is urgent for me and this would be the first place I would look for a temporary replacement. Gumtree, facebook market place etc are all open. I also agree with one of the members above this is similar click and collect. Come on Sue/Frankito you do sound more angry then Boris..lol. We are doing our best to keep people safe, by being adult about the situation by being sensible. I wouldn't say we over reaction on the first lockdown as we didn't have guidance on being safe etc.

Please don?t bucket me in the same list alongside angry Sue as I?m all for things staying open whilst following the rules, of course.. :0)

Sorry to hear that, I hope you get better soon. I was only pulling your leg in response to a previous poster.

Totally off thread but hope you are feeling better soon Sue. Maybe get one of those nice sharpening things to give you something constructive to do as you recuperate. It's probably 80 year old and I can't see one on line but will take a photo and post it on that knife sharpening thread.

And as for being annoying I think I am public enemy #1 at the moment. Not that I am inviting a torrent of niceness of course.....
