warning : no cctv area where disabled parking bay is / pushbike area tesco express ed road

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone i parked my car on Monday 10th December around 12.30pm in the disabled parking bay .. and it was vandalised .. i reported this to the police and after they checked with tesco it was discovered that the camera they have does not capture any image for that disabled bay but does view all the other bays directly in front of the shop even though the camera is closer to that bay than any of the others.. this is a very dodgy area where the bikes are parked too so they are at risk too ..there is an alleyway just there too that the local drug addicts and prostitutes use and also the local toilet which leads out to garages at the rear and easy escape route

Surely you park anywhere at you're own risk?

I do feel sorry for your experience but think it is a little unfair to feel let down by Tescos. If you had parked somewhere else where the cameras did cover it wouldn't mean you would be less likely to have your car vandalised. The camera may not have caught anymore useful footage than none at all.

Sorry for your bad experience but if you parked outside my house and your car was vandalised would you feel I'd let you down? Horrible thing to happen but the people who you should be angry at are the low-lifes that damaged your car.

How long were you in the shop for? Seems very unusual to have your car done so early in the day in such a short timeframe?

Sounds like I'm blaming you with those questions... Sorry. Did they take anything of value and what was extent of damage? Were you able to get home?

thanks for your comments ..but the police seemed to think it might be one of the staff at tesco who did it ... although i told them i didnt think so as i do think i know who did this and parked there as my dad is disabled and was taking his shopping up for him , the camera was facing my car and the fact i knew i wouldnt be very long made me not worry about anything happening to my car and if it did was on camera .. i had my tyres slashed last week also on Solway road ... i was just posting this to let anyone else who parks in the disabled bay know that theyre vehicle or them for that matter is not on camera .. that bit in particular is dodgy as where the bikes are parked there is an alleyway that drug addicts and prostitutes use and others use as the local toilet ....its worrying that if anything serious happened there that you have no camera to view anything .. as for damage to my car there were two dents and all three door locks glued luckily the glue hadnt set and managed to get it all out .. oh and i am angry at the low life but just gutted that they werent caught on camera what ever the footage quality .. i wont lose any sleep over tesco not having camera for disabled bay just hope nothing happens to any of you or your cars whilst near there just warning you its not covered by cctv ..
Is it possible that someone is targetting you? To have tyres slashed and locks glued in the span of a week seems extremely unlucky. Lots of people park outside tesco every day without incident. To me...it seems likely to be the work or more than a random vandle. Vandles don't tend to glue locks, they tend to scratch paintwork or pull mirrors off. It makes no sense to me.....but then I could be completely wrong.
There does seem to be an increase in Hate Crimes against the Disabled. There are stories going around about them not really being disabled and get huge amounts of benefit. Maybe the perp thought you didn't look disabled and shouldn't be in the disabled bay?
I'm no Columbo, but it strikes me you are being singled out. Which would freak me out enough to demand the police do something about it. Vandalized twice in a week? What are the chances? About a zillion to one I'd say...
You might want to think about whether your Dad was the target here. There is a major issue around crime directed towards disabled people. I would mention this to the police. Vandalism like this seems unusual.

    • Hi there, Our Lexus NX300H, (reg RF18BWO) was stolen off our driveway last night, Monday 27th October. It was there at 9pm, and had gone by 7am. If anyone has any footage on their doorbell or Ring, that would be super helpful. We have asked some neighbours and reported to the police etc.  Most upsettingly, there was a box of old family videos in the car boot, in an old Sainsburys box (photo attached). If anyone sees these dumped at the side of the road, please contact me asap! They are priceless videos that my deceased grandparents took. Thank you for any info, Jojo
    • Another shout out for Milk & More - their app allows you to alter the order, add or subtract to it and also to schedule holiday stops without having to leave messages in bottle - so more secure. You do have to set up a direct debit with them, but I haven't had any problems with that myself. I have had one or two missed or late deliveries in several years, but not really a problem - only very occasional and caused mainly by delivery-person illness. And very much feels like an old-fashioned milk delivery. They do special seasonal offers as well. More expensive than the cheapest of the super market milk prices, but for that its at your door, fresh and no bother.
    • Enjoying the nostalgia and memories.  As with others, we get ours through Milk and More (is part of big co, so there is that against it, but it's hardly a secret/niche thing) - returnable glass bottles of milk, orange juice, yoghurt, and much more besides (as per the name). And yes it comes in the middle of the night in an electric vehicle. So can still get out nostalgia fix, doubled when the Riverford chap comes too.
    • This sounds like what goes on at Tessa Jowell GP surgery as well as others.   If you can flag yourself up as a ‘vulnerable’ patient or one that can’t use Apps for whatever reason etc then you can usually make appts by phone. They would have to make allowances. Quote the Equality Act 2010,  reasonable adjustments section.
