Empty shelves in NI supermarkets, blocked shell fish exports from UK, blocked plants with UK soil attached and now Covid vaccines being impounded in Italy.

After a massive debacle with vaccine procurement they seem to be lashing out in a manner that will surely backfire on them. But they probably think the "EU dream" is worth any cost.

leaving the EU meant erecting borders - Remainers pointed this out and were told it was project fear - all the distribution issues affecting NI are a direct result of Johnson deciding to put border in the sea - as was predicted

the other option is a land border in Ireland - madness

But all of this was forecast and dismissed

What about shellfish? Was this EU lashing out? Not a bit of it - it goes back to 2020

https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/hapless-defra-secretary-eustice-humiliated-and-schooled-by-the-eu/

Australia have asked EU to review the Italy decision but are relaxed and understand Italy needs them more than Australia does, given comparative death rates - far less hysterical than effra would have it

Meanwhile the UK is reduced to paying for adverts disguised as articles in brexit supporting newspapers pretending to outline the benefits of brexit. One would think that if there were benefits these papers would be printing them for free

not to mention UK unilaterally breaking the agreement by extending supermarket grace period without consultation

Oh Effra...you cant say that on here...someone will be along any minute now to tell you this is what Leavers voted for, and how all you're doing is blaming the EU for all our domestic problems.......

But in anycase, I think its time I admitted that I do feel like I was lied to as a Leave voter. I was under the impression that the EU would be fair and reasonable partners should we leave the EU, whereas they are acting in a callous and vindictive manner, committed in their desire to make Brexit a failure, therefore making the harshest possible interpretations of the various agreements, and often wildly inconsistent with how they treat other 'third countries'.

Case in point.....Not allowing 'equivalence' for financial services, when we still operate under the exact same rules that we did 3 months ago, and they have agreed equivalence with some weird and wonderful jurisdictions, but 'no' not the UK....their standards dont meet the EU's for financial regulation apparently.

So yes, I was mislead prior to the referendum, mislead that the EU would not act to punitively punish the UK for leaving the club....

We're a third country so of no concern to the EU except for what they can get from us.

Their main concern would be that Le Pen wins the French election but even she won't take France out of the EU - as the Express itself admits - she would try to reform from within. Same in Italy.

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1402535/marine-le-pen-news-eu-eurozone-reforms-macron-poll-spt

It's not the EU itself in danger - it might be the current leadership.

Reading further - her plan for France is to become the new Britain within the EU - thus take all the benefits we had for France. LOL.

sure...thats fair.

Lets all remember that if and when the UK aggressively responds....

"Lets all remember that if and when the UK aggressively responds...."

to what end???

This is the whole point about Brexit - it is needless and pointless attrition, caused entirely by misplaced English exceptionalism. If it really wanted to leave the EU it should have been honest with itself and it's voters and said it was going to be painful and costly over a long period of time, with additional worry of restarting violence in NI - but ask people if we wanted to do it anyway

instead it lied and when people tried topping out the folly of those lies they were called remoaners. This all old news now - but to actually think this was going to be easy after the fact, or accuse EU of throwing a tantrum is just indulging in the same misguided belief

I don?t understand why the European commission vice-president, Maro? ?efčovič, is squealing like a stuck pig. The protocol isn?t working and he?s done bugger all to fix it.

You can?t have little Hitlers going round snatching ham sandwiches out of hungry lorry drivers mouths.

"Maro? ?efčovič, is squealing like a stuck pig"

typical nasty portrayal of forrins there keano

"The protocol isn?t working "

it is working EXACTLY as was agreed to - you just didn't believe people who pointed out the problems. or when people wanted to debate the details of the deal to avoid issues like this, govt told everyone no one was interested in discussing this any more as we had been doing so for 4 years

this is on you

Just checked if you can take ham into Australia :

Uncanned meat (including ham, bacon, salami and sausages) from all other countries

Uncanned meats (includes vacuum sealed items) are not allowed into Australia unless accompanied by an

import permit.

https://www.abf.gov.au/entering-and-leaving-australia/can-you-bring-it-in/categories/food

in short, Uk is beginning to realise it is Foooked. And apart from breaking international law (rather than using it's traditional diplomatic departments to engender trust and foster partnerships) it is blustering around the place without any leverage and making more and more enemies. And yet happy to threaten further aggression

because Johnson doesn't understand what he has done

but by appointing the likes of Frost he can be sure that this will only get worse

All predicted. All pointless

And leavers reduced to bleating about being treated in a way they don't approve of, and calling Europeans little Hitlers or squealing pigs. So tiresome.

Tell that to Miche?l Martin and Simon Coveney after the way the EU imposed a border between the Republic and NI recently.

I?m surprised the pair of them don?t have the word ?Eejit? tattooed on their foreheads the way the EU ignored their ?sovereignty?

"Tell that to Miche?l Martin and Simon Coveney after the way the EU imposed a border between the Republic and NI recently. "

the EU imposed nothing

VDL foolishly spoke of possibly doing it and was very quickly told off - and everyone agreed she was wrong. And even Remainers pointed out how wrong she was

And Ireland was able to pick up a phone and whole thing was over - but not for people like you who have continued to blow the whole thing out of all proportion.

How is Coveney an "eejit"? in any of this. He was able to hear what happened, ring up and have the whole thing handled within hours. Irish remain quite happy thanks and aren't as childishly obsessed with some version of "sovereignty" that has them bitching and moaning the whole time

You have your sovereignty - enjoy it. Stop saying it's not working out for you because of the forrins

Unless Keano is talking about Covid restrictions -

https://www.belfastlive.co.uk/news/ni-residents-stopped-border-checkpoints-19793177

But someone got a fine and their car confiscated by South Wales police for going ghost hunting in Mumbles from Cardiff lat week so you can't say that's a special case

It never actually got triggered - VDL suggested it may be(or someone in her office did). Formalities would need to be done to actually trigger it.

keano has lost the plot here - it was never triggered and was never going to be

VDL got her homework wrong and spoke out of turn - and countries full of eeejits and with no sovrinty got on a phone and got it all sorted sharpish

but look at him go - because he has nothing else

    • Malumbu, you're absolutely right. The vet bills due to attacks on neighbouring cats are certainly not insignificant at all. The wounds can even lead to fatalities. I always urge clients, neighbours & community posters to target the root cause, as opposed to skirting around the underlying & often persistent issue. Connecting with local organisations like Celia Hammond Animal Trust, Cats Protection or Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) initiatives is a longterm solution. This is heighlighted, although briefly, under Improving Community Wellbeing. - I'd also like to highlight that if ever unsure whether the culprit is intact, owned or feral, & are hesitant to report, just in case it's a neighbour's neutered cat, you can call upon a Scan Angel or our team at TWB to check for a microchip first. - If the culprit does happen to be a neighbour's neutered cat, there are a variety of solution; both immediate & longterm that I would be more than happy to help with. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me at [email protected]
    • Also wanted to leave my recommendation for Lukasz. He came completely on time, was highly efficient, did everything we asked and more without charging extra and left the place immaculate. A real gem - we will definitely use him again!
    • Not sure if you added Tomd that have not been neutered terrorising other cats in the area.  Happened round here.  Would have been tempted to castrate the tom if I'd caught it.  Water pistol was not a deterrent.  Vets bills due to various attacks on other moggies was not insignificant
    • That's good news. I saw that DVillage is also being renovated. Now the pavement in front is wider and flatter with the recent works, they'll have a nice setup indoors and outdoors.
